I will be visiting Surabaya, Probolinggo (Mount Bromo) and Yogya in a few days time. After viewing sunrise at Mount Bromo, I want to get down ASAP and take a bus or train to Yogya. Many suggested to me to travel back to Surabaya instead, and then only to Yogya, but I don't want to take the same route (I'm coming from Surabaya). Plz advise me on bus from Probo to Yogya, the fare, schedule and traveling time, and to which bus terminal (in Yogya) will the bus stop. Where must I buy the bus ticket (I read somewhere saying that buying bus ticket at Probolinggo bus station is a rip not sure wheather this info is correct or not. Thanks.

From Probolinggo to Yogykarta

by BUS
Non AC IDR 27,500, AC IDR 50,000, Departure 12:00,
VIP IDR 75,000 Departure 10:30, & 19:00
Bus Terminal is at Jalan Sudirman, you can take the Yellow Bemo to there for IDR 1000

As you are from Malaysia I am sure you can speak Bhasa Indonesia, avoid the ticket touts and go inside the trminal and buy the ticket from the locket or join the local passangers.

By Train
You will have to go back to Surabaya to take the train, which is more comfortable

The train from Surabaya:
05:45(ECONOMY)(Yog/Solo IDR 12,000
16:00(BUSINESS Yog/Solo IDR 36,000
17:10(BUSINESS Yog/Solo 50,000
18:15(EXECUTIVE Yog/Solo 130,000
19:00(EXECUTIVE Yog/Solo 115,000

I dont know how long it will take from Probolingo, from Surabaya to Jojja train takes about 6 hours, by Bus may be 8 to 10 hours.

Bus Terminal in Yogyakarta is Terminal Penumpang Giwangan (Giwangan Bus Terminal). Jalan Imogiri, Giwangan, Yogyakarta 55163, 0274 378288, 7482222 its 4 km south east to City center.

Hi Anita, if you want to take different route from Brom to Yogyakarta:
so you'd better take a bus or mini bus from bromo to MALANG, then you could take an executive air conditioned bus from Malang to Yogyakarta,

Any idea on the bus fare from Probo - Malang, and Malang - Jogja ? Travelling time ? Is the bus frequent or not ?

Anita, the Bus schedule which I told you was from probolinggo not from Surabaya :) The Train Schedule was from SBY

Even from Surabaya, the bus take the route via Malang to Jogja

Taking Bimo to Malang and then wait to get the bus may take much longer then directly from Probolinggo, anyway you can ask peoples when you go to the terminal beofre taking the Bus.
