Black Water Rafting in Beginning of August?

Hello - we are looking to do a black water rafting tour on 2 August and wondering if it's recommended at this time of year? Too cold?

Any advice is much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Rebecca

You've probably done this already but waitomo.com/black-water-raft... has lots of information as has caveraft.com/blackwater-raft... but it will certainly be cold then - we're in the middle of winter here and Mt Ruapehu had a good coating of snow last week.

We've had an awful lot of rain, in recent weeks. This does effect Waitomo as the water table rises and some parts flood. So be sure to check the websites closer to the time.
Our water table in the Waikato is very high right now. The rainfall can be miles away but the water table still rises underground from the water flow.
Winter is definitely more likely to flood underground than summer, and it's definitely colder down there .
