I am planning a stop over in van veing but can only find two places listed the backpackers and Babylon guest house with horror reveiws...is there no other places?
There are dozens of guesthouses in Van Vieng - we didn't book before we arrived and had the choice of many places from cheap dives to nice guest houses - all very cheap. We stayed in a great place for US$6 - I would love to have reviewed it but lost the name of it further on in our travels.
If you can't find any info here I wouldn't worry too much - just get a place on arrival as we did. There were plenty of touts at the bus station waiting to greet us and show us places.
I stayed at Thavonsouk Resort in Vang Vieng, which was around20 a night for bungalow type accommodation, though theres quite a few other places to choose from, try the website www.vientiane-hotel-link.com/laos, this is where i booked all my Laos accommodation. Hope this is helpful and enjoy Laos!
vang vieng has dozens of places to stay so no need to worry at all.
like others have said there are plenty gusethouses in VV. In hign season lots of good value places get full easy, then it's good to be there early, about noon or so. no need to bother about those two, however, there are so many others with no mention anywhere yet still very good ones.
One of the best places to sleep in Vang Vieng is probably Ban Sabai, and you can book it via Green Discovery Laos.
you should try Pan'splace Gh or Maylin Gh
this two places are very well recommended
or if you like hostel please check out spicy lao hostey
