I am traveling to St Thomas on 5-20-07 to 5-22-07 then to St. Croix from the 23rd to the 26th. I was wondering if I need to reserve something in advance and if so I would like some suggestions on places in the 100$ a night range.

Also should I rent reserve a vehicle in St thomas or are they readily available?

If you are looking for true budget accomodations on St. Thomas, you may want to look into the camping sites available on Magens Bay.

If you want to spend a bit more, the Best Western Carib Beach Resort may be a good option. It is a short walk from the beach. One of the big drawbacks is that it is right next to the airport. Just a further down the road is the Best Western Emerald Beach Resort which is usually around150 a night and it is well worth the extra amount. I have stayed there twice over the last three years and have loved my experience there each time.

Also, you shouldn't find it too hard to get a car rental when you arrive since you are going there during their low season. Either way, it doesn't hurt to plan ahead. I would recommend Dependable Car Rental.

I'm sorry I can't speak for St. Croix though since I haven't visited there.
