Hi, I need a cheap hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. There is not less than 180 euros I can find. Anybody has information about this?
I am supposed to go with my wife and in-laws to Istanbul on Turkish Air in the middle of June. We were flying to Athens first via Istanbul with a few hours layover in Istanbul. We were then supposed to fly from Athens to Istanbul and stay there for five days and then take a flight from Istanbul back to the States. They are not comfortable with traveling through/in Istanbul--which is understandable give recent US travel alerts etc... My trip insurance does NOT cover travel alerts, warnings etc.. It actually takes an terrorist act less than 30 days prior to departure to get a refund. To change flights to Greece would cost us 700$ per person and no refund. I am proposing that we still use Turkish Air on our original flight to Greece where we land for a few hours in Istanbul and then fly onto Athens, but on the return flight we were supposed to stay in Istanbul for five days and then back to the US. I was going to propose to my group catching a few days later flight from Athens to Istanbul (90$) per person and then catching the original flight out to the US a few hours later--again not leaving the airport. Can I hear some thoughts or suggestions on this? If I "miss" the Turkish Air flight from Athens to Istanbul will they cancel my reservation on the flight from Istanbul back to the US five days later? It is a separate flight
How much is a taxi from sensimar marmaris hotel to the centre of marmaris
For anyone who has RECENTLY been to Istanbul... Hello. We will be visiting Istanbul June 9-13. We planned this trip in December, then sadly so many terrible things have been happening. I am now very worried because all of the countries have issued travel warnings, the US military just pulled the families from the bases, and they are advising people to avoid large crowds and tourist sites. Now I am fearful to even go see the Blue Mosque! I assume security is very heightened. Can anyone describe for me what the security at these popular sites is like? Police, metal detectors, etc.
Thank you!!
My wife and I are planning to go from Selcuk to Canakkale, spend the night there and next day take a tour of Troy and Gallipoli which drops us in Istanbul. there are some end-to-end tours from Selcuk-Canakkale-Troy-Gallipoli-Istanbul. However these are working out slightly expensive. Is there a possibility of going by Public bus from Selcuk to Canakkale on one day and on the next day, taking a tour which will do Troy-Gallipoli and end in Istanbul. If this is feasible what are the buses available between Selcuk and Canakkale. Any links please? Also, any suggestions on the tour agencies?
Does anyone know exact 2016 dates of Lale Festivali in Istanbul / Emirgan Park?
Are there tulip festivals / spring flower festivals elsewhere in Turkey within the month?
Thanks for any info
I saw a tweet regarding threat to Tourists in Turkey, anyone know if this is true?
Visiting Turkey in May. What should I choose between Izmir with Pamukkale and Cappadocia. dont want to do both as we are travelling for maximum or ten to twelve days and dont want to travel too much within that time.
Thank you in advance.
Is Van province considered safe for travel? I'm considering going there with just myself (male) and adult daughter. Is renting a car and traveling around that area on our own without a guide a reasonable thing to do? Thanks so much for any relevant information.
I am travelling from Sweden to India on visa on arrival. I have a layover time of 3 hours in Istanbul, Turkey. Will i need a transit visa. I will have to board a different flight in Istanbul to India.
I am travelling to Izmir from 8 to 13 December. Please advise how safe Turkey is as Terrorism Aspects?

We are wanting to do a Bosphorus Cruise in the late afternoon. Is there any such cruise that we can take from Kabatas at about 5:30 or 6 PM and then return to Kabatas / Eminou at around 10:30 - 1100 PM. What would be the best options available? We are not so keen on dinner etc, however commentary or at least an audio guide would be a must. Thanks in Advance

For a trip to Turkey, I plan to book hotels and domestic air tickets on the internet. (not hiring a car). Is it possible to join a tour from a travel agency only for the following stretches ; (a) Day travel from Cappadocia to Pammukale / Kusadai with a visit to the essential sights in Konya on the way. Do not wish to take the night bus (b) From Kusadasi to Cannakale, tour of Gallipoli and on to Istanbul. Is it feasible?
We are planning to be in Turkey for a fortnight in 2016. Would be visiting Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pammukale, Ephesus and Gallipoli. We would like to plan our trip at a time when it is neither too hot nor too cold and temperatures averaging between say something like 20-25 degrees C everywhere. Based on many reviews I feel, the month of May would meet my requirement. Any suggestions on which would be the better 14 days to pick up in May. Am I right in selecting May. If May is not the month meeting my requirement, then when? Thanks in advance.
I am planning a trip to Turkey with my wife next year. I am rather confused about where to stay. I have three questions please.
(A) I feel inclined to book a hotel close to Istiklal Street so as to be able to spend time here after the day’s sightseeing. However, we plan to move around in public transport (using the Istanbulkart pass). What would be an ideal location in/around Taksim Square or Istiklal Street?
(B) Should we choose to stay in Sultanahmet area what would be an ideal location for us from the ease of use of public transport point of view?
© Views on the location (though I know enough has been written on it earlier), however in view of our specific requirement any suggestions please.
After reading much about means of transportation in Turkey, can I assume that it is much safere to use public buses and also a lot cheaper
Expect a lot more of these since there's a slump in tourism due to the political climate (and Russian tourists something like 25% down in the Antalya region, etc). It might even get worse, but Turkey is definitely a cheap destination if you're up for it (exchange rate favourable and lira fuel prices have actually dropped, road trips are now a good option) - and haggle massively.
ok, so yesterday I was on Turkish airlines website looking to buy a ticket to get to Greece, I wanted to take Turkish air due to it being a star alliance airline and you get to get a free trip to Istanbul if you have a long lay over.....so I then put off the purchasing the buying of the ticket of instead of yesterday today, price yesterday per person (there are 3 of us) is $1342.30pp and then today jumped into more than $1600.00 pp, I was mind boggled that I did not jump into buying it yesterday so I went to a third party and only paid 1342.30pp, ok so was happy again and bought it before the price jumps up again....ok then I went back to Turkish air site and guess what????? price is back to the original price of 1342.30, after I have already purchased it on Priceline.com,,, ok, what is this, do they know that I am so eager to buy this ticket that they are playing tricks on passengers, just curious if this has happened to anyone, I think they are aware of who ever is looking at their site and eyeing an exact flight and they figure in desperation they will jump into the big hike in price, I don't think that's cool.....any input on this experience of mine?
will take a lay over tour for just three hours, do I need a visa for that?

I’m traveling with two smart curious girls, ages 13 and 16. We take the overnight train from Istanbul getting into Izmir at 9AM on a Tuesday. The following Sunday we’ll take the ferry to Rhodes from Bodorum, Marmaris, or Fethiye.
We know we want to see Ephesus either the afternoon we arrive or the next morning. (How much better is it to start early to—in theory—avoid the crowds?) That means one or two nights in Selcuk or nearby.
Then we want to base ourselves in one town. And my main question is what are the benefits from being based in Bodorum, Marmaris, or Fethiye (to make getting on the ferry easy) or perhaps a smaller town?
I don’t think we’ll have a car for the whole time. We’re happy to take the buses and minibuses when it works. But we might rent one (or hire a driver) for a day or two.
Our ideal trip would mix seeing some more ancient sites, a bit of nice countryside/geography, and a museum or two. We like to explore interesting towns that are not totally overrun by cruise passengers and package tourists. We may spend a bit of time at the beach, but we’ve got a lot of beach time in Rhodes.
As for antiquities, how would you rank the relative interest of Pergamum, Aphrodisias, Priene, Miletus, Didyma, Xanthos, and whatever I’m missing in this general area?
Thanks for your advice
