My business partner (she is a lady too) is regularly visiting Tunisia each month and she says it is pretty safe there now. There is a lot of police all around who take care about the security of both locals and tourists. If feeling unsafe she wouldn't go there, besides her male colleague is stationed in the city of Nabeul and he told me there is very safe area. Hop this could help.
