What to do in Tours France

Can anyone tell me what the best things to do in Tours if you don't have a car?

While you are waiting for VT-ers to reply with suggestions have a look at the VT Tours travelguide. everything is written by VT locals and visitors and you'll find lots of ideas about what to see and do, where to eat etc etc:

We just spent a day in Tours last week. They have excellent public transportation so do whatever interests you. We walked all over the central part and found it very compact. Don't miss the Cathedral. It is magnificent. The Beaux Arts was okay but not the most inspiring Beaux Arts we've seen in France. Place Plumereau is great fun . . . very touristy, but great fun. If you have any shopping to do, the central city has great shops. Some nice restaurants around the Hotel de Ville and a cute park at the train station. We have a car but left it in the country and took the train into Tours to avoid expensive parking.

If you are going to be in the area a few days, look into tours offered by the local Tourist Office because Tours is central to so many wonderful Loire Valley chateaux. There are easy train trips to Chenonceau and Amboise that would be fun.

You really don't need or want a car in the city so you'll be fine. Enjoy your trip.
