Anyone used this Access Tibet Tour company before? Any feedback?
We plan to go to Lhasa/EBC on first/2nd week of August, any thoughts for this time period in terms of our chances in seeing Everest and travelling outside of Lhasa?
Just remember that on top of your permit for Tibet (over and above the visa for a visit to China) you will need an additional permit to visit the Mt Everest region. Our trip was in early to mid-May and the views of Everest were amazing! We finally got our Tibet permit about an hour before our flight from Chendu to Lhasa was scheduled to depart.
The altitude is another concern you should not underestimate. Even with the medications (that can relieve some of the altitude sickness symptoms), you will still find travel there exhausting, even at the relatively "low" altitudes of Lhasa. It takes time for your body to adjust (this is measured in weeks, not days) as your body has to produce additional red blood cells to help you cope with the reduced oxygen levels, so head to EBC towards the end of the trip to give your body a bit of a chance.
I suggest you visit a travel medicine clinic for advice...
