It is always the more responsible thing to pay in local currency. It helps to strengthen the local currency and develop confidence in using this, thus helping the economic of the whole country.

Bring your British pounds and exchange in Bangkok. There are many exchange booths on the streets and they more or less give the same rate. Just change enough at the airport for your transport etc on the first day

There is a couple recent posts on this. Bring your currency and change in Thailand. You get a better rate in Thailand. No old money, no dirty or stained currency, no writing on the bills. Take larger denominations. Thailand also has ATMs that work with many foreign debit and credit cards.

In Thailand you use their currency for day to day transactions. In Thailand very easy to change money. In Bangkok and other major cities bank money changers available almost every day of the week.

Various bank rates on this link below. Unless you change a lot of money at one time the difference between banks is not that much. Rates are not fixed.

Take a look at some of the other posts on this forum. Perhaps for transportation, scams, food, etc.

Good luck.

We visit regularly and always change our currency at local money changers ( they are everywhere), just check a few to obtain the best rate. Maybe you should change some pre arrival to pay your taxi to the hotel.
