That's a very subjective question, but as you seem to be talking about a "famous" beach, I presume you mean the one in the film, which is Maya beach on Koh Phiphi Lei in Krabi district. Otherwise there are lovely beaches all over Thailand, on Koh Samui island for example or the Kata beach on Phuket. In Krabi you have Railey beach where they do rock-climbing or further west there is Klong Muang beach or Tabkaak beach. You could always take a little boat trip out to Koh Nuangyang or Koh Tean for a real paradise beach with no-one but yourself.
Others will come along and give you their advice too, as I said it is very subjective....

What time of year will you visit? (Some months have more rain!)

How long will you be in Thailand?

Do you first fly to Bangkok? (If you first fly to Bangkok check out a map and locate any beach areas you have an interest in.)

Do you intend to dive or will you just look at the beach?

Tourists from India often choose Phuket for nightlife and beaches. If you first land at Bangkok a bus ride from Bangkok will take around 12 hours just to get there. If you only have a short 6-8 day visit plan on flying to save time. Phuket is more expensive than Bangkok if you are on a tight budget!

Pattaya Beach is popular with Indian tourists. Pattaya is about 2 hours from Bangkok by taxi. You see big groups of Indian tourists walking around all the time. Often these groups of Indian tourists include family members with aunts and uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers and kids. Also not unusual to see groups of single Indian men wandering around too.

Pattaya Beach is no good for swimming! Many hotels have pools. Nightlife, malls, street vendors, restaurants, etc. Pattaya is cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket.

Do a Google search for beaches in Thailand that fit your needs. Also check on how to get there too! This V/T forum has a Travel Guide for Thailand. Take a look at it!

Phi Phi Island is one of the most famous places in Thailand when it comes to beach.
Try to check out the photos on the Phi Phi island guide on this link:

A distinction needs to be made between the two islands. Koh PhiphiDon is inhabited, mainly by backpackers and divers and drunken revellers and has two of the dirtiest beaches I've ever seen in Thailand. Phiphi Le is unhabited and has the famous Maya Beach where the film "The Beach" was made. A short day trip can be made from Phiphi Don to Phiphi Le with a longtail or speedboat. I was there in February this year and is the only place I have ever visited where I've said "Well that is one place I'll never go back to!!!" But of course, each to his own....

SirHalberd was right...the famous beach for Indian visitors is Pattaya and Phuket where you have everything....

But if you are looking a beach to relax with no much tourists those remote islands has the best beach in the country

Phuket is the best province for beach and Islands. One of the famous beach is Patong Beach, then you have awesome islands like Phi Phi Island, Maya Bay, Phang Nga (James Bond Island) and many more.
