I'm planning a trip in Syria and I'd like to know if I can reach Baalbek, in Libanon, from Homs. Is it possible and reasonable, since they are pretty close? All guides say to reach Baalbek from Damascus, but i'd like to visit the north Bekaa Valley. If yes by which means, and how long does it will take?
Thank you very much,
There is no public transportation to Baalbek from Homs...there is no border crossing from that highway...you could try asking a taxi driver and see if he can take you. Or you can border through Aabboudiye and head to Tripoli, and from there take a minibus to the Bekaa Vallet, otherwise the best way to go is from Damascus...and I don't think you need to worry about backtracking, the Bekaa valley is maximum 2 hours away from Beirut. if you want to head straight to Baalbek before Beirut, you can take a bus to the first Lebanese city after the border and from there there are minibuses going to Baalbek village. From there you will probably need a taxi because there is a bit of mountain crossing to enter the Bekaa valley. I paid 5000 Lebanese Liras from Beirut to Baalbek for a 2hours ride
