You itinerary sounds good to me, Castelsardo is a beautiful village on the hill top although we only visited here for a day, but we have good time wandering around [original VT link]

While you will staying in Castelsardo you are closer to Capo Testa is about 1 h15 min drive [original VT link] [original VT link] maybe headed there on your way to Alghero I know is kind of a round drive, but it'll worth it

If you have 4 nights in Alghero, put Argentiera in your list [original VT link] is about 50 min drive from Alghero

Capo Caccia is just a short drive from Alghero [original VT link] a visit the Grotta di Nettuno

While you are in Cala Gonone, you can drive to Orgosolo is about an hour drive from where you stay [original VT link] [original VT link] [original VT link]

We just passing through Oristano, we have a nice walk in the city. Surely you will see a lot in 2 weeks time, we only have a few days in Sardegna. We drove long distance everyday to see as much as we can. Of course driving through the mountains can a bit delay through a winding roads

Enjoy in Sardegna, I traveled widely in Italy, and Sardegna is one of my favourite place, because is not really touristy island

I think we will drive down the East Coast now after Cala Gonone.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for this route?

Simply follow the ss125 and admire the views. As you pass through Baunei I strongly suggest you follow the signs to "Il Golgo/ San Pietro".
The road will take you directly above the village and affords you spectacular views over the coastal plain and the southern hills with the towns of Jerzu, Lansei and Ullasai.
The church of San Pietro is so beautifully set against the limestone scenery that I defy anyone to not love it. There are other interesting things to see here if you are interested. I would also suggest you at least have a drink, if not lunch at the "Rifuge" as it is beautifully constructed and has a fantastic terrace.
After Baunei, Santa Maria Navaresse is a lovely little town and has a nice beach.
To the South there follow miles upon miles of sandy beaches some with excellent bars/ photo opportunities.
If your time allows, I would also recommend a visit to "Il Grotto su Marmuri" in Ullasai.

Thanks Sardo. That road sounds great and we've been told to try the winery at Jerzu for tasting. We think now we'll drive down from Bosa to Oristano before crossing to Golfo di Orosei , perhaps staying at Oliena a few days and then Santa Teresa Navaresse on our way to Cagliari.
Seems you know the area well .....we'd really appreciate some more tips on favourite places along our route...
thanks again

May be better to drive on down to Oristano before crossing to the East Coast and then down it to Cagliari?
