Hello friends, I have 8 days to stay in Sardegna. What are your advices about places to stay? I'll be with a car and I want to stay 3 nights in the South of the island and 5 nights in the Northern part. Where are the better places to stay near the sea or in the cities? Any other advices about places to visit or things to do will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
In the south you could stay in Villasimius or Costa Rei. I didn't really like Cagliari.
In the north your options are, IMO, much better. Alghero is a very pretty city (with a nice beach), Bosa is nice and so is Castelsardo. As for beaches ... the list is endless: Golfo Aranci, Porto Cervo, La Maddalena, Santa Teresa Gallura, ...
It's all about what you want to do because the inland (mountains) is breathtaking, too.
In a week you can see a lots in the island. Sardinia is beautiful. And if you have a car you can move easily
We flying to Alghero a few years ago, rented a car and drove from North to South
You can either stay in Cagliari or in Alghero, I like Alghero is a beautiful city. The city of Alghero is compact and it has nice narrow streets and you are on the sea
Bosa you have it both, culture and beach, and also very beautiful place to stay. Sardenia is less crowded than any other parts of Italy. I like this island [original VT link]
I don't quite agree that you can see lots in one week time. I found the driving times from one place to another (with the speed limits on most of the roads) pretty long. Of course, we are slow travelers and like to see things along the way.
We all traveled differently, we spend in the island for 4 days only. Of course there are some days that we sitting behind wheel for hours to reach the place, especially driving at the mountains. We always cramped our time in each places. And we didn't based to one place. We move on and sleep on different places every night, easy if you have a car. ;-)
Yes, we sure all travel differently! We also moved on from one place to another, stayed in 4 different locations (north, east, south, west) during our 16 days holiday and we still feel we could easily spend another two weeks because sometimes we felt we really had to rush.
Thank you all for your very useful answers!
Enjoy in Sardegna! I have traveled in Italy widely. Each time we go back we do different region.
Sardegna is one of my favourite after Puglia.
I see you're from Romania, we've been to your country last summer. We travel around after hire a car in Bucharest
It is very beautiful as well and inexpensive. Amazing people too ;-)
