Does anyone know what year they stopped using Castillo Del Morro as a prison?
I believe that the address below may contain the information you need.
however, it is in Spainish,
and I'm not positive as to which of the dates, (if any, describe your answer).
hope this helps.
The prison was last used by Che to excute the officials of the fallen Batista regime and also some of the members of his own army who had a falling out with Che. Inspite of the romanticism of Che that the world has of him, he was in fact a brutal bastard.
I'm not sure if you are asking about Castillo del Morro in Santiago or the one in Havana, they both have the same name. Since you posted your question in the Santiago de Cuba forum I guess you are asking about the one there.
The Morro Castle (full name: Fuerte de San Pedro de la Roca) in Santiago de Cuba was used as a a prison and tomb for Cuban patriots in the 19th century (until 1898).
