Now that I've settled on a hotel, what's going on in Santa Monica for New Year's Eve? Does anyone have a restaurant to recommend or any special event?
My suggestion is to find where you want to spend it at and make reservations! No reservations and you won't be able to get into anywhere. Some restaurants will do two dinners - opt for the latter dinner reservation if you plan to stay until midnight. Cost is usually75-$150 per person with a prix fixe meal and entertainment.
I haven't done New Year's in Santa Monica so I can't offer suggestions.
the viceroy may have something fun going on. check their website. caution: it's kind of expensive. i paid13 for a water. but it's a great place with pool and cabanas outside. que chique!
A special event only 26 miles away, ha, I bet you thought I was going to say Catalina, no, it is the Rose Parade in Pasadena. Old Pasadena is jumping on the streets all night long as people line up along Colorado Blvd to hold their spot for the Rose Parade that starts in the morning. If you have never done this, the opportunity is now present. If interested check out Old Pasadena and the restaurants at their website:
My favorite is a tapas bar and flamenco showplace called La Luna Negra Restaurant that on a Friday night and being New Year's Eve should be jumping. See their website: lalunanegrarestaurant.com/in...
Already set. Four-course prix fixe dinner & the after party at Caffe Delfini in the Santa Monica Hills with my friend.
T, Cafe Delfini is not in the hills but below the hills of Pacific Palisades, only a few doors away from PCH and the Pacific Ocean. Very dark and tiny restaurant but the food is excellent. Alex, the owner, does his best. Have the artichoke salad for a treat. One of my good friends and his wife live 2 blocks away on Ocean Way off Entrada, now that's a hill. Oh, they do have small flashlights to see the menu. Bring your own to see the food. Glad you are not going to Giorgio Baldi on the same block. Both are Italian, but Giorgio's rushes you out. Have a great time and Happy New Year. ;-)
Thanks, Larry, for the correction. I don't exactly know as I've never been there before. It's also reassuring that you think the food is excellent. Whenever a restaurant is that dark, I use the light of my cell phone to read the menu! We're looking forward to New Year's Eve there.
The food at Caffe Delfini was AMAZING on New Year's Eve. The service was very good, too. Can't wait to return!
T, now you have me salivating and to think that Caffe Delfini is only about one half hour from my home. Glad you had a great time. :-)
