I have been quoted 2400 euro to hire 4 hybrid bikes for 3 weeks, in australia you could buy four good bikes for less than this amount, would it be cheaper to buy the bikes in Salzbugh and give them away at the end of our trip?? any ideas?
Do you know any wash-and-fold laundries in old town Salzburg? Don't want just a self service laundromat, since time is of the essence, and don't want to wait for and pay the price of hotel service. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi - I am looking for a direct train service from Salzburg to be at Vienna International Airport by 12 noon on Dec 28th. First class seating or individual cabin for family of 5 can be a good option if available. We will have a good deal of luggage with us. If there is a direct train options that offers the best scenery route, then please also suggest. There is a mass of information on the website so appreciate if someone can help narrow down what works best for the criteria above - in summary looking for direct route, great scenery and 1st class accommodation/cabin. Thanks
Salzburg-what to see? Where to sleep? Where to eat?

Hi All,
We are a group of 12 traveling to Salzburg in mid September. We have only 3 days in Salzburg. We plan to spend the 1st day exploring Salzburg. Day 2 :we plan to do the ice caves and the Hitlers nest. I wanted to know if there are any good tours which could combine both or any tour company that can customise a tour for us. Also wanted to know if we could just take cars and drive up and do both. Day 3 we plan to do the sound of music tour.
Any suggestions how to go about this or any more ideas are welcome.
Till Then
Happy Travelling
Regards
Neha
We will be in Salzburg for 2 1/2 days in Sept with three Children, ages 10, 9 & 3. Any suggestions or must see/do's appreciated. We had hoped to do a salt mine tour but understand that it's not something we can take youngest on.
Feels like I should open another thread for this topic.
Can anyone recommend a restaurant where we (group of 8) can get more or less authentic austrian food (or: local food)? I'd prefer a place where local people choose to go, as well, if that's possible. Doesn't have to be fancy, at all...
Again I've heard to stay away from old town and rather look for a place on the other side of the Salzach. Seems like a lot of people think of Old Town as a tourist 'trap' and its wise to cross the river and search there....and if there are any nice bars in the same area which can accomodate 8 people, that would be great, too (but it's not a must).
Thanks a lot in advance and thanks for the help in my other thread, as well. :)
I'll be in Salzburg for a bachelor party next weekend am wondering which area is best to stay in? Found a hotel right at the central train station and one on the other side of the river and the Moenchsberg. Can someone give me some advice on which location is better in terms of public transport, getting to know the city a bit, seeing the older parts of town, etc etc?
Would be highly appreciated. :)
Best,
Mark
Hello, I am going to Salzburg for a month.

We are traveling to Salzburg from CK and have been trying to figure out pricing and schedules. From what I can find, it seems the private or semi private "Bean Shuttle" is our quickest and most economical option.
Has anyone used their services? The pre-booked price is 30 Euros per seat or 800 CZK. Their times seem ideal for us as well. If anyone could offer advice or suggestions please? Thank you in advance, Homer (and Ed)
Hi there,
I know it is probably kitsch, but I was going to stay in the Trapp hotel in Salzburg when I visit in September, is it far from the city centre ? Don't mind walking or cycling into the centre.
Thanks,
Mark ;-)
We are coming to Salzburg and will continue on to Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, back up through Bosnia & Herzegovina, Hungary and finishing up in Vienna.
Does anyone know if there is a problem with driving a car in through any of these borders?
We've heard a lot of conflicting reports due to higher theft dangers, etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Homer (and Ed)

-Halltatt (saltmine)/Obertraun (5 fingers)
-Schafberg

Then I was planning to stay 2 nights in Salzburg because it s on the way to Munich (flight back home). I was thinking of skipping Salzburg and spend these 2 nights in Mondsee or somewhere else in that area. Would you recommend it? Or Salzburg really worthwhile?
