In which area of the city would you suggest me to stay? I've never been in Salvador, I would like to stay in a place like Copacabana, I mean: quite safe to walk anytime, always people around, both tourists and locals, with restaurant and bars. I'll be there for business and when I came back from job in the evening I'd like to have dinners and maybe some drinks at walking distance from the hotel.
A plus would be staying not far from the north coast.
We just stayed at the village novo in the barra area, there were restaurants and bars nearby, right across from the beach. My only complaint was that the waves crashing on the beach were so loud, it kept me up-I had a room facing the beach. So either be a heavy sleeper or request a room that isn't beach front! The room itself was great, plus liked the area. You did have to take a cab to the pelhiurinho though.
Barra is the main beach part of the city and a pleasant neighbourhood with lively bars in the evening where the loclas hang out and eat and drink.
Would probaply be the best bet for you if you have never been there before.
Rio Vermelho is another option, but it's a little further from the center and it is a little closer to some areas that you should steer clear off as a first time visitor.
thank you for your answers!
