any good dart bars, pool tables?
I am from the Ft. Lauderdale area and would like to move to St. Augustine. Does anyone know why all the crime stats on St. Augustine indicate that crime is really high, way above the FL. state and US average? I'm surprised that area would have such a high rating for crime incidents. Do you know if these stats are coming from just a small pocket of areas and, if so, could someone let me know where those areas are? Thank you for any insight you could offer .
What are some hotels that would be good stay at that will be within walking distance of the bars? Thanks!
Hello. I'm heading over to St. Augustine tonight to see the city lit up for Christmas and have dinner. I was wondering about the Floridian. The revues look good but I would prefer to go someplace the locals do. ( I'm in Gainesville so I don't technically count as a tourist lol )
And tips would be greatly appreciated
Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving
What's the best way to get from Saint Augustine to Tampa without renting a car?
Can you use your car to drive north on Ananstasia Park to the very end? Walking from snack stand would be 4 miles on beach.
My wife and I will be in St. Augustine, Fl from October 5 -8. We are looking for a really nice but inexpensive hotel to stday three nights. Do you have any suggestions. My preferable location is the St Augustine Beach or Crescent Beach area. I have appointments in that area Monday - Wednesday mornings at 5 a.m. Do you have any suggestions on things to do. We have been to the forts, the beach, and the outlet malls. Are there any things to do nearby? What are some good local restaurants to try?
Is there still a restaurant at 12 Bay Street, home of the former Chimes Restaurant?

I am looking for a certain store that has a picture prop of a mobster like person holding a rifle under the left arm and a mug of beer in the right hand, wearing a black hat and black suite. The picture was taken in one of the alley stores that can't be seen from Saint George street. Any and all help would be appreciated.

On behalf of our new member SkipG, I enter his intended questions:
We're expecting to enter St. Augustine, FL mid-day/early afternoon Tuesday, to get a repair specialist there aboard.
As we don't yet know where he is, and whether he'll have someplace for us to come to, and, related to our entry, two questions:
Are the current deep spots in the channel (I know they've been dredging) well marked?
Are there any anchorage spots anywhere in the vicinity of the city (vs moorings)?
I would like to stay right IN Old town....walkable to shops as I will be travelling alone and will not want to leave pets too long. What main streets am I looking for. Some hotels say Historic district but then it says short walk or drive....I want to be right IN the area, Only one night...any suggestions? Many are on Ponce De Leon....is that part of the historic district?

We have been to St. Augustine several times and have always wanted to visit the oldest Methodist Church there, but it has been closed to visitors. We will be there again on April 22 for a few days and wondered if it is now open. Robert Sharpe / [email]
We have been in St. Augustine several times and have tried to go to the oldest Methodist Church there, but it always seems to be closed. We will be coming to St. Augustine again on April 22 through April 25. Will be able to see it them
My family is planning to come to the area in July. We originally wanted to go to the panhandle but are worried about the June grass, which was terrible last time we were there. We have never been to St. Augustine, and although some us are very interested in the history and the Old City, most would prefer to rent a house at the beach. There are 4 adults and 4 teenagers. I have read that some of the beaches are shelly, not sandy. Which is the best beach area, and also any rental advice (not terribly expensive) would be appreciated.
Hello, my girl and I are coming to St. Augustine in a few weeks and I am trying to find a good place that has dancing (club, hip hop, etc) but no stringent dress code. Are there any spots perhaps around the beach where daisy dukes are welcome? lol
Thinking of spending the night in St. Augustine on Christmas Eve since it's just the Hubby and I and it gets pretty boring at home by ourselves. Will there be shops and restaurants open then?
We will be arriving in St. A on Fri 11/2/12. I'd like a reasonably priced, clean hotel near the Historic areaa. If that's not doable, what is the parking situation on Saturday. We'd like to spend the day as tourists before leaving Sat. evening.
