Rockland or Camden?

Flying into Portland for a 6 night Harbor Town vacation. Camden or Rockland? Which has the prettiest harbor? And is there a hotel or inn or B&B perched up high with views? If not either of those towns, suggestions? Only want to stay in 2 hotels in 6 nights. Flying out of Portland, so we'll see it coming and going. Thanks..... End of August a good time? Hoping to avoid the school crowd. Can't get a room anywhere for the Lobster Fest, or we'd come Aug 1st. Darn! Kathy

I would choose Camden. It's a beautiful town, with nice restaurants, a lovely harbor and cute shops. Rockland also has a harbor, but it's a much bigger town without the same level of charm that Camden has. I'm sure you can find a B&B recommendation on tripadvisor, or perhaps another VT member will make a recommendation.

Also, the end of August is an excellent time to visit....you may even want to consider going in September. If it's possible to avoid Labor Day, I would suggest you do so, as the crowds along the Maine seacoast can be extremely heavy over that holiday weekend.

Thank you. We booked our flights for Aug 21-27. Decided to fly into Boston, out of Portland. Camden it is! I appreciate your suggestions.
