Rincon or St Croix??

Hi All,

My wife and I are going to move from the mainland to a beach/island community somewhere very soon and need as much input as all you are willing to give.

I want to preface my request for thoughts, opinions and advise by sharing that I lived on STT for a year spending a lot of time in the BVI as a first mate on a 75' charter cat named Serendy back in 89-90 and loved every minute of it and loved just about everyone I met.

I lived on and owned a resort in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye Belize for over 2 yrs. and like wise loved every minute of it. This was 1998 - late 2000.

I lived on Sint Maarten for almost a year and loved it as well.

We have traveled many many times to all areas of Mexico especially the Yucatan peninsula and love it as well.

We spend a great deal of time in Destin Florida. In fact we were set on moving to Destin but I do long for the island life and something a bit more exotic and removed from the normal day to day of the mainland.

I mention our background so those willing to share know that we have been exposed to island life etc. BUT obviously things can and probably have changed quite a bit over the last 10 years or so.

Anyway, I am in my early 50's, my wife is 38 and we have a 6 year old and a 5 month old.

Can anyone share thoughts, opinions and comparisons about and between STX and Rincon Puerto Rico?

I own a resort development,, consulting and sales and marketing firm and hope to offer my services in the location we choose.

My wife is an incredible cook/self taught "chef", artist and marketing executive. She hopes to put those loves into some kind of business.

In addition, we hope to identify new business and service needs wherever we move and start new businesses as well if and when possible.

So as not to paint the wrong picture, we are coming out of a devastating economic collapse with our businesses but both are back on the rise so we will not be coming in throwing money around. On the contrary, while our businesses are on the rebound and can be ran from a computer and phone, we will be continuing to rebuild to a large degree. We just decided to rebuild in a beach community and break as far away from the mainland rat race as possible.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

MARCH TEMPERATURE  (1 Answer)

FOLKS: we are vacationing in Rincon from March 11 to March 18 and most of the condos we have been looking at at have air-conditioning in the bedrooms only.

I know this is a very subjective question -- but will it be hot inside a condo without air-conditioning throughout?

Thanks,
Steve

Party Rentals in Rincon?

Hi,

My friend is getting married in Rincon this summer. The reception will be a self catered bbq on the beach. The problem is that we'll still need some chairs, tables, ice tubs, etc. Can anyone supply the name and number of a party rental place?

thanks!

Driving time from San Juan to Rincon  (1 Answer)

I am getting away from the cold of New York and going to PR for a long weekend and would like to spend the day in Rincon. Anyone have any ideas how long it takes to get there. I will be renting a car and enjoy driving.

cheap transportation to Rincon from san juan, or just cheap lodging in san juan?  (1 Answer)

I'm flying into San Juan in 2 weeks, and I want to stay there but I can't find anything very cheap (hostel prices...$20-$30/night). If anyone knows of anything please lemme knowm, I've been searching and I'm a college student with a tight budget.

I see that Rincon is cheap for lodging and there's a lot of surfing around there. Anyone know of a cheap way to get to Rincon from San Juan? I don't mind camping either place either, if you know of campsites or places to set up. I'd really appreciate any advice, thanks!

travelling alone:accommodation in san juan and ponce  (4 Answers)

Hello Everybody
My name is Kimish. I am 24yrs guy studying at University of Southern California los angeles. I am travelling to Puerto Rico from 29th of dec to 5th Jan. At this moment I am desperately looking for accommodation. I know there are plenty of them available but since I am travelling alone and I am looking for cheap place to sleep I could not find one. I have travelled around europe where they have lot of youth hostels which are cheap and lot fun to be at. But I could not find anything like that for Puerto Rico not atleast online. I know this message is getting quite long but I appreciate if you read it.
So back to the topic, if anyone has any idea about cheap place to sleep, I just need a place to crash. I dont want to spend more than40. I can carry my sleeping bag with me so if anyone has any idea about camping or stuff please let me know. Well this is kind weird but I am in desperate situation so if anyone can host me at their place ( I am willing to pay) then that will be great as well. Infact in that way I can get chance to meet local people and know about culture as well. I am pretty easy going.
In anycase if anyone around san juan or ponce is there and would like to give me company to hang out with and show around that will be great as well.

Hoping for numerous responses.
Thanks
Kimish
