No, quite easy although of course it will depend where and which terminal you are landing at. the RER station and SNCF station are beneath Terminals 2C and 2D. Here is the official airport map that you can scroll around on.

For hotels I suggest you look at the reliable and long-established www.booking.com. The site has extensive listings in Reims, reviews which can only be posted by those who have booked through the site and completed their stay and..most importantly in your case......excellent mapping.

Just put in your dates and then choose any hotel in the list which appears. Click on the map link on the hotel page and you'll be able to see all the hotels near the station and cathedral. Click on any hotel: you'll see its details and be able to go to its own booking.com page to check reviews etc.

A couple of years ago, we stayed at the Citotel Hotel Porte Mars in Reims and found it very nice and convenient. It is about 200-300 meters from the train station exit and a short walk to the center of the city. Seems it was not much more than $100 per night for the two of us. They also serve a nice breakfast which is an extra charge, but even included boiled eggs. While you are there, I highly recommend a visit to the Musée de la Reddition which is the place where the German surrender was signed at the end of WWII. It is small but has the conference room and table that was used and is just around the corner from the Hotel Porte Mars.

Hi. We like the Hotel Bristol. It's about a 5 minute walk from the train station and another 10 minutes to the Cathedral. It's right on Place Drouet d'Erlon so it's a really fun place to stay with a lot going on. At Christmas, I'm betting they have a Christmas Market right there. It's a great location at a great price. If you are going this Christmas, they may be fully booked already. We went to the Christmas Markets in Strasbourg last year and the hotel we picked was booked in July. Fortunately, we found an even better location although not quite as nice. Reims isn't as famous for its Christmas Market as Strasbourg, but all the Christmas Markets are very popular and draw large crowds so make your reservations as soon as you can.

Enjoy Reims. It's a favorite city of ours.

I just checked and there is a large Christmas Market at Place Drouet d'Erlon so you'd be right in the middle of it all. There are markets all over the city and the biggest is at the Cathedral, but Pl. Drouet d'Erlon is a close runner-up. [original link]

Have fun and have a hot spiced wine and a bretzel for me . . . ;^)

When I was in Reims I stayed at a place called the "Résidence Hôtelière du Champ de Mars", which was priced like a budget hotel but had en suite facilities and a small kitchen right in my room. This was one km from the railroad station and in the same block as the Mumm Champagne House and the Foujita Chapel, in case either of these are of interest to you. Also it is not far from the Surrender Museum that Rex mentioned above.

You can book a hotel at any web-site mentioned above or try to use house-swap services like http://swap-house. com/host/france/ for example, it depends for how long you are planning to stay there. There are often very hospitable people who can meet you at the airport and help with luggage or show some places of interest. Wish you a pleasant journey!
