Hi! I only have a couple days in Yangon - I want to hit the top sites. But Yangon seems pretty big. I have no idea which area or "district" to stay in (East, downtown, Central, South)? Is it best to book a hotel closer to the airport? Thank you!

May i know is it true if you have entered Yangon in the past two years you cannot enter Yangon the third time with a single tourist entry visa? A travel agent asked me to apply a business visa in order to enter Yangon the third and subsequent times. Otherwise show proof of employer letter allowing me to tour Yangon again. I do not want to go through the hassle again.
Please advise.

This would be my first time to personally experience Burma/Myanmar. It will be in August 2015 and probably shared with friends (hopefully). I plan to spend 2 full days in each major city, from Yangon to Bato to Mandalay and the Old Bagan. What are the recommendable transport to take to cross these cities without sacrificing the fun tours? What could be the best things to do and see in each destination points? I would love to hear your endorsements.

Hi to all of you who live in Burma! I am going to visit this wonderful country end of january 2015. Would be great if you can support me by answering some questions.
Do I need guestroom reservations or will I find a room easily?
Is it possible to get tickets for the bus / train just one day before I continue my trip?
What is better to bring with - USD or EUR?
Can I withdraw money at ATM (maestro)?
Are prepaid SIM cars available for tourists?
Which are the little goodies (except money) that people in Burma like ?
Maybe you also have some hints about
- traffic and road conditions for motorcycles at Mandalay and north
- visiting a project of social work
- living like a buddhist monk (one day should be enough!)
- experiencing the life of burmese farmer, lawer, teacher, ... or whatever
Thank you so much for giving me an idea about the current siutation and all your ideas for a pleasant stay.
What is the general level of European languages there? For example, can I use English or French widely? I guess not. Is the English level like Thailand maybe?

I'm planning to spend a week in Yangon In May. I'm an Australian citizen born in Australia with parents from middle eatern country. My question is : is it safe for a person of middle eastern/ Indian extraction to be in Yangon? Especially with the unrest in some part of Myanmar. I have travelled extensively In Asia and I've never had any problems. Thanks Patrick

Hi,
Will be going to Myanmar end of January. Basically arriving 8am on Thursday and leaving early morning of Sunday. So I guess that's just 3d/3n. I would really like to visit Bagan and Mt Popa but they seem to be too far and the plane ride quite expensive. Any suggestions on a good itinerary? I really don't want to rush from one place to another. More like savor the ones I get to see :)
Thanks in advance!
Liza
We'll be in Rangoon soon and wonder if anyone has been to this cemetery or knows where it is located? I'm not 100% sure if this is the right name for it still, but know it was a Christian cemetery and is not one of the war cemeteries. I've found Pazundaung on the map but it looks quite a large area and I don't know how easy it would be just to wander around the area. Thanks.
We need to visit the Taukkyan war cemetery North of Yangon. Can we get a bus or taxi from the city. I know it's about 20 miles. What are the opening times etc ?
Thankyou.
i understand now that obtaining a Myanmar entry visa requires not only a presentation of passport with six months validity from the date of travel, three passport photos but also the traveller's namecard. Is it true all travellers must show the Embassy their namecards? What will happen to travellers that have no namecards? And i understand Myanmar has restrictions to the kind of travellers that are trying to enter Yangon. Writers, publishers and any kind of journalists are not allowed to enter Yangon. So what other professionals are prohibited entry to Yangon?
