To those of you who have helped and advised with the NZ trip I'm grateful but we simply can't afford it - so we're heading back to Canada
Our rough proposed plan is to fly into Boston drive up through Lake Placid and on to Montreal/Ottawa/Quebec City -not sure if it's worth visiting Halifax so might well come back a more direct route. Thinking of visiting April/May but what about snowfall? All suggestions much appreciated - not into outdoor activities but very much folk music and historic sites - we've done Niagra
Also on my want to do list is to see the Canadian Mounted Police show - I'm visiting their website daily but from past experience is there liable to be a show in Ottawa at this time of year
Hi. I will spend Christmas in Quebec this year (so excited!) I am just wondering where is a good restaurant to have Christmas Eve dinner? Most of the restaurants are closed and one of the nice restaurant I saw (Panache) only accept reservation from their hotel guests for Christmas Eve. Is there any other restaurants you can recommend? Also, if we don't make a reservation, can we likely find a restaurant that is open on Christmas Eve on that day? Thanks in advance!
Will be in the first week of new year 2017.
Was thinking about best western plus city center 330 de la couronne. What are your recommendations anout this hotel? I did stay before in the Hello Friends

What to see in quebec winter times?
I think i'll take the croisiere boat tour.
Coming from Montreal.
The tour is about 90 min. Need to know what can i do , see on my way to venise in quebec. And things to do close by.
We will be traveling by car in rural areas near Quebec city. Are the road signs only in French or in English/French?
When staying in Quebec City what is the best way to get to the falls? Do public busses go there or is it best to book a tour?
I am wondering if I can find a ride to the Park from somewhere in Quebec city?
change of plans...instead of going to montreal first we're now going straight to quebec from philadelphia...
we're going there this May...
our plan is to allot 1 day travel time from philadelphia to quebec (and another day back) since we have a baby in tow and would involve a lot of stops... without stops, google maps says its 10 hours travel time
can anyone please suggest the must-visit places for both montreal and quebec? so far i have the following:
day 1: travel time from philadelphia to quebec (leave early morning)
day 2: tour quebec (old city - chatteau frontenac, any more?)
day 3: travel to montreal / tour montreal ( what to visit? )
day 4: travel time back to philadelphia
a good place to eat too and place to stay would be nice too..... nothing fancy because we'll be travelling with an infant...
again, we'll be visiting in May.
thanks in advance!
Hi. We'll be going to Montreal and will go to Quebec for a side trip. Can you suggest a day trip itinerary in Quebec that's baby-friendly (will have a less than a year old baby with us). Will be visiting some time in May.
A good hotel and places to eat that's baby-friendly will be very much appreciated too.
Thanks in advance!
My wife and I are visiting Quebec from 1 - 12 July in connection with the Transat Quebec Saint Malo race, but will be free from 3 - 6 july. So I'm thinking of touring by car - to relax, enjoy local scenic attractions and maybe pick up a bit more of the History or the Saint Lawrence.
Ideas on where to go - and places for overnight stays would be appreciated,

We are from Toronto and will be travelling to Quebec City on the holidays. What can we do on Christmas day aside from spending it in a hotel?
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum :-) We are planning a trip to Quebec City and thought we would travel to Montreal for the last 2 days of our trip. I was reading on this site about allo stop and kanga ride. I see the websites are still up but google has them as permanently closed. Are they and if so, is there a budget minded travel option between the two cities? Thanks everyone in advance. Mic
My husband and myself will be in Quebec from October 16 through 19. Would like to do a hop on hop off, but see that they do not run that late. Any suggestions on tours for the area at that time of the year.
Thank you much.
Does the Quebec City HOHO bus operate between Oct 19th and 22nd? Does the Ecolobus operate at all now? We will be visiting Quebec City on these dates and would like to visit the usual tourist destinations. In neither of these will be available what options (walking is difficult for one of our group) are there? Many thanks!
An American friend, who doesn't speak any French, who does a lot of travel withing Quebec as part of his job, told me that he used to run into hostility from merchants and the public in general in Quebec, outside of Montreal and Quebec City, when he'd ask questions in English. He said he learned a trick to solve the problem. When he enters a store, he starts off by saying, "Habla Espanol?" then "Sprechen sie Deutch?". While the locals typically don't speak Spanish or German, they assume that the person is not American and not an English speaking Canadian.
Then, with a fake accent, he says "Do you speak English?". Usually the merchant is then relieved, and delighted to speak English. Apparently anti-English resentment is not really against the English language, but against Americans and Canadians who take it for granted that everyone should speak English.
Has this worked for any of you?
We have a group of 10. Is it possible and if so how would one go about finding a large van or small bus to get out group to Quebec City from Montreal?
Can anyone tell me regarding hotel rooms with shared bathroom option? actually what they mean by shared bathroom?? i am confuse. plz help. Thank You in advance

I'm new, and I think I posted this question in the wrong place, so I'm trying again. My husband and I will be visiting Quebec City next month (July) and I would love to take an english speaking yoga class. I haven't had much finding one online. Any ideas?
My wife and I will in the city end of June 2015, staying in the old section. Would appreciate some recs for a formal evening, casual bistro, and local pub.....does not have to be in the old area, but we will not have a car. We are in our late 40s and live in downtown Chicago.
Thanks in advance!

I am planning to go to Quebec City to see a concert in mid-May and would like to get in some hiking around the city. In the autumn of 2013, I hiked L'Acropole des Draveurs (breathtaking!) in Haute-Gorge and also Jacques-Cartier National Park to the north of the city.
I was wondering if there are other suggestions as well to check out (particularly if it's got a splendid or scenic views like L'Acropole).
Any tips on fun things to do in Quebec City in late December?
Our group is 3 adults and a 5 year old.
Coming in April for 2 weeks....need to know of 1 day or 2 day road trips out of Quebec city,,....we have a car...thanks for tour help... Martin
