I have a teen daughter in Cologne. She is a first time traveler. She comes from rural area. She speaks passable German. She wants to make a loop by train through Holland,Belgium,Luxembourg, France, and back to Cologne. She can only spend a day to a day and half in each country. So the question is,if you could only go to one city /town in Holland where would you go and why?She doesn't want to go to Amsterdam. I believe she is a bit fearful of the very large cities because of her inexperience. Any suggestions for the other countries would also be appreciated. Please keep safety in mind and a mother's worry. Thank you ever so much.
Ik verblijf in Brielle tot 19/4. Is er iemand die interessante restaurantjes weet/kent in de omgeving ? Streek : Brielle, Oostvoorne, Spijkernisse, Zuidland,... Alle info welkom en bedankt alvast !!

I know that Netherlands motorways have small roads at the side for traffic that is prohibited from the motorway but how is it possible to tell that the road is not just a cyclepath?
Hi there, Virtual Tourists!
I'm moving to den Haag tonight, and I just realize I don't know anyone in a 1,000 kilometer radius. Even though I'm quite social and will certainly find friends fast, I still decided to post here. So, girls and boys, if you want to hang out with an easy-going 23 years old Finnish guy, post me a message! I'd appreciate any tutoring with the Dutch language and culture. :)
hi there! i was looking for a place to stay in maastricht near the train station i will be arriving in (centraal?) in the 70eur range. any ideas? thanks

I'm a sports journalist from Romania and starting 20th of May I will be travelling to Holland to cover the national team's matches versus Ukraine, Denmark and Wales.
I've been told that the first training camp for the dutch team prior to the above games will be held in two different cities: Noordwijk and Katwijk.
Firstly, I want to know whats the distance between these two cities (Noordwijk and Katwijk) and Amsterdam, where I plan to book a hotel during the first week of my stay in Holland?
Secondly, I want to know how can I get to Noordwijk and Katwijk from Amsterdam and how long the trip is going to take?
The 2nd dutch training camp, between 26th of May and 1st June is going to be held in a village called "Hoenderloo".
I have two options for the 2nd week of my stay in Holland: to book a hotel in Rotterdam or in Eindhoeven.
I would like to know which of these cities is closer to Hoenderloo?
And how can I can get to Hoenderloo from either Eindhoven or Rotterdam and how long the trip is going to take?
I thank you in advance for your help and will be waiting for your replies.
Kind regards from Bucharest

In the early 1980's I went on a cricket tour to Holland and am trying to remember the name of a club that we played. I think the name was something like De Keeverton, it would have been fairly close to Scheveningen as that was where we stayed. I recall it was a large ground with practice facilities on one side and a clubhouse on the other. They had two or three Dutch international players in their side and I think they said that a famous South African cricketer had played for them, maybe Mike Proctor or Barry Richards.
Can anyone help with the name of the club?
NB - I have also posted this in the Misc Forum in case it is considered off topic and deleted.
I would LOVE to go over to England for two days or so when I'm in Holland, but I can't find good solid information about the ferries from Hoek van Holland to Harwich (from Harwich I would go to London). I can't find prices, how long the journey would take, and also, the ferries that run between these two places don't allow foot passengers on board, which is what I would be since I don't plan on bringing a bike or car with me...It's very frustrating! Can anyone provide me with sufficient information? Also, do you think making a short trip over to England would be too much?
Hi, my husband gave me a wonderful present for Christmas: He's going to take an extra day off work for a trip to the Rien Poortvliet Museum in Middelharnis. We'll be there Saturday, January, 9. I've checked the net for hotels, but I cannot find any. Is it true there are only condos , vacation homes and camping sites on Overflakee? Does anyone know of any hotels or B&Bs near Middelharnis? Thanks a lot for your help. Christine

Requesting locals and all, I would like to know something - anything about "Landgoed Wassergeest" a B&B close to Lisse - all I figured out was that it is some kind of estate - I don't even know if the words mean something. I googled and found a couple of websites that were in a language the translation software could not work with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also we plan to be in Leiden/Lisse around May 8/9 weekend - will those gorgeous fields of tulips still be there? Thanks!
Hi everyone, I am from Russia (Moscow). I plan to visit Noordwijk (the Netherlands) for some days for my business trip. I will be have the free time during 30 of August 2003 (Saturday) after afternoon and whole 31 of August (Sunday) (possibly and 1-st of Septemder). Does anyone know if there's any one or two day tour by bus from Noordwijk (preference) or by train from Leiden to Brussels (preference) or Antwerpen or Luxemburg? Where can I order this tour? May be who knows the tour agency”s e-mail or address at Noordwijk? Thanks, Evgeniy.
I'm going to Netherlands (Zuid-Holland) for March and April. If I've understood correctly, there is a huge flower growing area and "festival kind of thing" at Keukenhof (Lisse). Is that a place worth visiting for a guy who just want to see different parts of the "neighbourhood"? And what about the Queen's Day at 30th April? Is there really a huge celebrations every where (in Holland) that day? As I'm going to leave that country after April, I was thinking to go to Amsterdam that day and leave after that. Is that a good plan? Is there a lot of everything around that day? :-)
