I shall be arriving on 7 October 08 at Schipol and i would like to head for Texel island. i understand i have to take a train to Den Helder to get a bus to the ferry.
1)Do i get off at Den Helder or at Den Helder Zuid station?
2)Since I will be staying 2 nights on Texel island, can i buy a return ferry ticket?
3) From Texel, I shall be heading for Roosendaal. Any idea how long it will take me to get there? Many thanks
1. You will have to travel to Den Helder.
2. For Texel you buy (always) a return ticket. Once everybody has to leave the island. See for more info:

3. The journey between Den Helder and Roosendaal by train will take about 3 hours. (cost one way € 26,50)

looks like previous poster already got you some significant info.
For all public transportation schedules (door-to-door) you can use www.9292ov.nl
You'll need this translation: [original VT link]
Have a nice stay!
Thanks for speedy reply. btw, for the return ferry ticket do i buy at the ferry terminal or can i buy from den helder? my husband is 63 and we are not EU residents . is he eligible for senior discounts on train and other public transport in the netherlands? belgium and luxembourg?
hi there, you need a special year rail pass (which is not free) for discounts in The Netherlands and Belgium. So it doesn't really pay if you travel only once. Additionally, for Belgium the discounts are from 65 years.
I forgot to say that for bus transportation, the senior age in The Netherlands is 65 years. So you cannot buy the 'strippenkaart' with reduction.
"for the return ferry ticket do i buy at the ferry terminal or can i buy from den helder"
You will have to buy a return ticket at the ferry terminal.
