My husband and I are planning a trip to Holguin. We would like to do some snorkling. Can anyone tell me if the snorkling is better around Grand Playa Turquesa or Blau costa Verde ? Walking a short distance to a beach with good snorkling is not an issue. Thanks.
Planning a trip to Cuba in early January...
We're avid mtn bikers; hard to find any info on this other than all inclusive tour packages. Any info would help, i.e. do I need to bring my bike or can you rent good quality bikes there and what kind of trails etc.? Anyone who has been there and has local contacts, would appreciate that contact and maybe could find out from locals...?
Hi, We're planning a trip, 1st of November, in Holguin.
I know it might be raining this time of year, but should we expect little or a lot? And is it realistic to expect temperatures of 28 degres?
(as per various websites)
Also, what activities would you recommend ?
(I've been in varadero before and really enjoyed the dolphin/catamaran one
we have to purchase tickets ASAP...
Thanks for helping a canadian get away from the cooooold weather !!
I have just read that you have to be 12 to swim with dolphins which we are very disappointed about as our daughter is 10. She is a very strong swimmer. How strict is this age limit? If she isn't able to swim, how close do you get to the dolphins in the boat? Any insight would be very welcome.
thinking of going to Holguin in January but hear that it can can cool at that time of year? Is this true?
lets say ill be staying in Brisas or club Amigo in Guardalavaca, how much would a cab cost to get to holguin downtown, and how long is the ride?
Where can a tourist buy items of clothing? I am very keen to buy some Cuban shirts and would also like to get a couple of their summer weight suits. Can these be purchased locally? What is the nearest town or city to shop for these and local crafts etc. Does anyone know how the prices compare with what we pay in Canada?
hi i am going to club amigo on feb 13th and was wondering is there any beach area where one might be able to nude suntan.thanks
Do you know what the situation right now in Cuba, which hotels were evacuated?
This hotel apparently was LTI and then changed to Maritim and now is owned by "Blau" chain. Has anyone been there? I seem to read mixed reviews on it... but we are considering staying there in 2006 because it seems to be priced very well for a 4 star hotel.
I hear that renting a moped is a great way to travel around. Can anyone give me an idea of how affordable it is and if there is a minimum age? (We're 24, but I know in North America you usually have to be 25 to rent a car). Also can you rent mopeds from the hotel or do you have to go elsewhere?
Hello. I am planning a trip to Holguin for myself and a friend and I was wondering what the weather is usually like in January. Could anyone help me as i've tried lots of sites and they all come back with different temperatures!!! Also, anyone know anything about the Hotel Club Amigo Atlantico- is it far from shops, bars etc? Thanks.
I am travelling to Cuba shortly from Canada and I am wondering what I should tip the staff - the Canadian Loonie, Convertible Pesos or some other currency (Not US)? Also - what is a responsible tip for Waiters/ bartenders and Maid staff? I've read else where that a dollar a day is adequate - but I'm not sure these suggestions come from anyone who has been to cuba. and finally - I've read many differing comments on the web about gifts for Cubans - should I plan on bringing some gifts down and what is best to bring> (medicine, soap, sports equip, pens and paper)? Any help would be much appreicated! cheers
Me and my boyfriend are going to Club Amigo this Saturday, I was wondering if anyone can give me any insights, any traveller's tips, places to go, how the night life is, any tours, how much is swimming with the dolphins??? A lot of questions but I hope someone can help me out....
Hello everybody. My name is Alexandre. In the beginning of April me and my family we spent a wonderful couple of weeks in Cuba at the Grand Playa Turquesa (Holguin) resort. Now I'd like to send'em a 'Thank you" letter along with a few pictures of local fellows. I do have hotel's mailing address, but I'm not confident in relyability of their postal service. So, if you're planning your trip to the same resort in the nearest future please let me know. I'm quite sure that you will enjoy of advantage to bring those pictures to cubans, they will really appreciate your move. I live in Ottawa(613)599-6429(res) (613)592-6776(bus) [email] Thank you.
