Hi, I will be staying in Saskatchewan for awhile, and I would like to know some information. What kind of clothes do teens/young adults wear?? What are the schools like ( Ex. Hours, Days, Grades(like in elementary what are the grades, and in middle and hs))? What is the official language in Saskatchewan? Thank you so much!!! If there are any good resourceful websites that you know of, can you possibly reply to me and tell me? Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Hi! I don't actually live in Saskatchewan, but I know lots of people who do..and one of my best friends went there on exchange, so I could still help you out with some of the things you want to know. The official languages of Saskatchewan are English and French. You should be able to use both. (My friend went on the exchange for the purpose of learning French..she was in a community where hardly anyone could speak English!) But most people there do soeak English, so it depends where you are.. About clothes... there are many different styles and ways of dressing in Canada. It depends what look you're going for...I don't know if you're a girl or a boy. At my school there are all kinds of different ways of dressing. We have our preps, goths, punks, cow boys, etc. And the thing I love about it is no one is usually judged by what they're wearing. Yesterday I saw one girl wearing a curtain! Yes, a curtain.... anyway, it just goes to show we have so many different people. I don't kow how you like to dress. Here are some of the websites of the stores me and my friends (and even girls in Saskatchewan) like to shop at. they can be found all over the country. Some of them are only for women, others are unisex. www.dynamite.ca www.garageclothing.ca www.guess.com www.bootlegger.com Other popular stores are Roots, Old Navy, and Jean Machine. but don't be too worried about how you're dressed! I had a boy from Germany stay with me and attend my school for two months. He dressed completely different from everyone else and really stuck out. But there was nothing negative about it; he actually got a lot of attention and made lots of friends that way, Hope I helped! Arial
GAP & Club Monaco are really popular too.
The official languages of CANADA are English and French, but 95% of the people in Saskatchewan speak either English only, or English and Cree (a native language) or English and Ukrainian (mostly in farming communities). According to the latest census of Saskatchewan, only 345 people in a population of almost (not quite) one million (1,000,000) spoke only French, and everyone else spoke English. Dress is very casual - lots of jeans in various styles. Schools are open beginning of September to end of June, Monday to Friday, the exact hours can vary a bit from town to town, but the days are not long (usually about 8:30 a.m. to about 3 p.m., depending on the grade and school etc.). If you have access to Google, type in the word "Saskatchewan", and you should get links to a lot of different websites. Here's one to start your search: http://www.gov.sk.ca/aboutsask/
