Hi, everyone! I plan to visit Palawan soon and would like to rent a motorcycle in Puerto Princesa. I thought of going toward El Nido and exploring all the beaches along the way as well any other things that catch my attention. I understand that there are unpaved roads that go trough jungle. How safe is it to travel there alone? Someone advised me against this because it is too dangerous. That if I really wanted to do it, I should have a group of well equipped and armed people and a trusted guide. How much of this reflects reality?
Hi, is there a grocery or a convenience store in Coron, Palawan where i can purchase a bottle of wine or alcohol? Appreciate the help! Thanks!
I was after some advice on travelling to Palawan with my family. We will be flying from Manila and are hoping to be there around mid Jan.
I've heard/read some great things on Port Barton but wondered how easy it was to get the with the two children. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
How many days is long/short enough?
Places to visit suitable with children
Which company to fly with?
Hi! I need to get from the Coron airport to Busuanga Bay Lodge. The resort sent me an offer for 2500 pesos to the one way. Is it too expensive? What is the usually price by taxi?
Hi guys ...
Im male and traveling alone , and would like to know the best area to stay in Palawan. I like the bar scene and would like to visit the prison. I will only be in Palawan for 2 nights 3 days ..
So here is my idea... Go to northen palawan. Find a freighter or something that can transport 2 jetski to northen palawan (el nido area) and meet up with the skis there. Probably be based in some simple resort in el nido. Plan is to use the jetski a to explore the surrounding areas of interest.
Questions: assuming I can get my personal skis to el nido, would it be safe to "park" them on the beach of the resort where I'm staying and not worry about them?
Questions: since they run on fuel and will eventually run dry, are there facilities in the area to get "clean" fuel?
Questions: I've never been to the place but have seen and analyzed dozens of videos, is using jet skis to explore the place practical?, in terms of distances, should I have enough fuel on the skis to go island hoping without having to refill the tanks every 2 hrs or so? Planing on a leisurely pace not going full throttle ....
I was just wondering if there is some people planning to visit palawan during April month.
I will be there alone from 9th April to 6th May 2014.
Are measle vaccinations, anti-malaria immunizations really neccessary for only a 3 day stay in Palawan???
Hi everyone, we are going to stay for one night at this hotel. From what I have read in other sites, it is such a hassle going to this place. Do you have any suggestion to get there the easiest, cheapest and safest way? We are traveling on a budget and will be carrying luggage.
First of all, my very best wishes for everyone in the Philippines. The reports we get all over the world are devastating. I really hope the number of casualties doesn´t grow too much more and I really wish there will be many happy endings after all.
My husband and I are planning to arrive in the Philippines on December 2nd, this year. Everyone is telling us not to go... This may sound very ridiculous but it feels like kind of betrayal not to go now... of course we want to enjoy the beauty of the country, idyllic landscape, laid back atmosphere and friendly happy locals. That's why we chose to go but we know that we won't find the country in its "natural state" after the typhoon. Still, we want to go and we want to help if possible. Are these reasonable thoughts?
We were planning on going from Hong Kong to Cebu and from there to Puerto Princesa to explore Palawan (north). From Palawan, we'd fly to Manila and from there, back home. Most of our time (15 days in total) would be spent in Palawan.
All advises about the situation is very welcome. I wonder how the country will be in 15 days...
Thank you all!
Are there resorts with swimming pools in Palawan?
Is it possible to go to Coron, El Nido and Puero Princesa for for 1 week? Coron is a must for diving the Japanese wrecks? Are the 3 places possible to do and how would you do it?
We are planning to visit Sabang in November! Can anybody advise on the weather conditions and temperatures? Also I heard that there is a strong undercurrent in the sea and swimming, however we are really hoping to go snorkelling, can anyone also suggest some good snorkelling spots and how to get there if we are unable to snorkel directly off the beach?
Many Thanks :)
we will be at Coron this 3rd week of Jan, 2013, can you provide me a contact number/s of a tour guide/s...thanks!
Me and my wife will travel to palawan on february. We are planning to have a silent and peaceful holiday for 10 days. I am looking for an advice for a silent island, not too much people are living.
-We want to stay in a local hotel, we dont need a luxury one.
-In some photos I saw some hotel rooms or bungalows which are bulild on the sea. These types are preferable.
-White sand and clean sea is a must:)
-I forgot to say, security is the first:)
-We want to taste different tropical fruits.
-Also I would like to go fishing very much.
-We want to go to local restraunts for dining and for lunch.
-Lastly, we want to stay in different island in everyday.:)
Is there anybody who can suggest some paradises like mentioned above:)
We are planning a trip to Palawan in the coming May. The route is planned to be as mentioned in the title, arriving in Coron and departing from Puerto Princesa after exploring Palawan for 9 days.
From Coron there should be a daily boat service to El Nido, departing at 8-9am for PHP 2,200 (sounds expensive, are there any other options?), but I am wondering about the El Nido-Port Barton leg, as i havent found any schedules online, we'd prefer to travel by boat if there are any. How about the jeepney/bus schedules from Port Barton to PP?
And about the accommodations, how "high" season may is in Palawan? should we book our accommodations in advance?
Thats all for now :) greetings from snowy Finland!
Can anybody tell me for how far the National Highway is paved (i.e. concrete surface)? I've heard so many different accounts including some horror stories!
I wish to drive my car (Toyota Rav4) from Puerto Princesa to El Nido. Accurate up-to-date information would really help with my planning.
Anybody else suffered from SuperFerry Company which damaged our vacation in Philippines by canceling the freight from Coron (Busuanga) to Puerto Princessa, which was scheduled for January 28, 2012? We are planning to declare this case in court.
hi VT friends!
we are planning to attend a 4 & a half - day conference (mon-fri) in puerto princesa city palawan this april. kindly suggest a cheap but nice place to stay near the coliseum & things to do after the conference (afternoon of friday & saturday. we will be going back to manila by saturday afternoon. we prefer to stay in an inn, guesthouse or pension house with a kitchen so that we could cook. thank you very much!
I want to travel to Palawan in a couple of weeks during Chinese New Year, so I've just got 4 or 5 days for my stay in Palawan (arriving early sat and leaving late tue/wed). I read a lot of information, but I've still got some questions.
- I recognized a lot of travel packages, but none of them fits really perfect for my needs. Since I have to plan my own itinerary the most important question is how to get around the island. So does anybody know about the schedules for the Jeepneys (if I'm going to travel from PP to El Nido via road) or boats (if I want to travel from Sabang to El Nido via sea)?
- Is it going to be more crowded during CNY, so is it recommended to book everything in advance?
- Since my schedule will be quite tight and due to the long ride up to El Nido, do you think it is worth the effort if I'm just going to stay there for maybe 2 nights?
Thx for any support!
I am heading to the Philippines Decenber 24. I have a week by myself; I am thinking of doing some trekking if anyone has recommendations. However, my main question is: My friend and I are traveling to Palawan around the first of the New Year and we will be traveling around for almost 2 weeks. How much planning, organizing, and BOOKING/RESERVING do I need to do? We are volunteers living in China and want to check out for 2 weeks, lay on a beach, do some island hopping, have a few beers and a few laughs. We want to relax, but I fear because of the holiday season, if we don't plan we will be stressed. At the same time, who knows what we will like or where we will want to stay longer/shorter. Advice?
It's been a while since I sought advice from the you guys. Many a change in my life too, as I am now married to my beautiful Pinay. We're planning a trip to Palawan (never been there) in mid-December for about a week.
We have been advised by others that the best option to save costs and provide convenience is to go for a packaged deal. From your experience, which hotels would offer the best options for this?
We intend to fly into Puerto Princessa. Where should we base ourselves, accommodation wise to make it easier to see the underground river mainly and best snorkelling and relaxing beach? El Nido, PP or Port Barton?
The accommodation does not have to be top notch, but rather comfortable/clean and romantic in setting. Suggestions please..
If you have recommendations or information for any packages, tour guides that would be appreciated.
I am still open to arranging accommodation separate to tours though. Is that easy enough to do?
My friend and me are goin' to Palawan from october 27 to november 21 .We'll stay 4 days on Busuanga and then fly to PP...have you some tips as we expect to visit Honda Bay ,port Barton ,Cacnipa island, Taytay and of course El nido... We are ready to join a group if possible...Thanks for all Ivan

We're group of 3 going to Elnido on Sept. 16-18.Who wants to join us?Please send me message. Thanks!
Would just like to ask if it is advisable to proceed directly to Sabang Beach after our island hopping in Honda Bay?..Will it be better to go back in San Jose Terminal or we could just catch a bus or jeep from Sta.Lourdes to Sabang?
Our initial plan is to stay overnight in Sabang to catch the early motorized boats to Underground River the next morning.
Appreciate your kind help..thanks :)
Me and my girlfriend are taking a boat from Sabang to EL Nido on Jan 21st. The cost is 2,200 pesos per person (1 way). I belive it will take 8-9 hours although we plan to stay overnight en route. If you're interested in joining us then please get in touch!
My gal and I are coming to Palawan in Jan 2011 and wondering how busy should we expect it to be? Basically, I mean hotels.
We usually try to leave our schedules open for the added flexibility, but will most places be booked out around this time of year? I know Chinese New Year is fast approaching, would could add a bunch of folks. So do you suggest we book all our hotels in advance?
Also, we will be starting in Puerto and then hope to do the loop up to El Nido, then down thru Port Barton, and Sabang before back to Puerto. I have read various iteniaries, but if anyone has a suggestion please pass it along. Main Q is this...can we rent our own vehicle to drive to these spots? If not, what's best alternative.
My husband, baby and myself are going to El Nido this december and I cant wait.
Unfortunately i saw that it is very cold there???
It saids about 10 in the night and 21 in the day, is it better to take the trip somewhere else if we want a beach vac??
I already booked flights from Manila to el nido so i hope it will get warmer. But in Manila it is 30 degrees right now so i dont understand why the big difference??
