Where to stay and most convenient route from Piraeus to Patras?

My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Piraeus from Santorini at 11:25pm (23:25) and need to get to Patras for a ferry to Bari the day at 6pm (18:00). Should we stay in Piraeus then make our way to Patras the next day? Or somewhere else? Where can someone recommend we stay economically? And, what is the most convenient route to get to Patras?

Thank you so very much for your assistance,

It makes the most sense for you to stay in Piraeus for the night, especially if your ferry from Patras to Italy offers a shuttle bus from the ferry port as do Blue Star Ferries, Anek Lines and Superfast Ferries.

There are several small budget hotels near the port. These include the Acropole, Ideal, Triton, Anita and Poseidonio Hotel

Buses go from Athens to Patras all through the day.

The service is frequent and cheap. It's is run by the Greek National Intercity Bus Company (KTEL). Buses run every half an hour or even shorter from 0600 to 2300. The trip lasts about 2,5 hours (Express bus service) or 3 hours (regular bus service, with stops in the way). The fare is around 15 Euros. No advanced booking is required.

Departures are from KTEL Terminal A in Athens go from the Pelopponese station Address:100 Kifissou St, 10442 Athens
Directions: The Bus Terminal A is south-west of central Athens – take the subway to “Sepolia” then change to bus #420 or take a bus #051 from Menandrou Street, near Omonia Square.

Give yourself plenty of time to make the ferry departure (at least 5 hours).
