I am visiting Auschwitz Concentration camp next week. I am planning to catch the night train from Prague to Krakow and get down at Oswiecim instead of going all the way to Krakow and coming back to Auschwitz. I am wondering if this is a good idea to get down at the Oswiecim station at 4:45 am in the morning and wait for the Auschwitz concentration camp to open for visitors. Does the station have a waiting area? Thank you!
I really do not think it is a good idea, as the train station is small, no rest area and nothing opened in this time. On your 20 min walk to the museum/camp (opening hours from 8 A.M.) there is hotel "Olecki" ([original link]). Call them and ask if they can provide you in this time of dawn with breakfast and a place to sit and relax for several hours.
Hi Ritesh, may I know how did you get on with your plan? I was not on VT for a while, so sorry I could not give you any info on time during your visit.
