I will be moving to Osaka this year and my mother is going to visit me during the winter holidays. I wonder, whether the trains and buses run during New Year's? Is it hard getting from place to place?
Anyone knows if there is anywhere i can go in February as a day trip from Osaka. I am hoping to go somewhere with snow..
Thanks in advance!
My friend and I plan to visit Japan in Nov. Since we've not been there before, appreciate if you can share with us on some of the tips ^_^
Plan to go: Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Tokyo
Days available: 10-12 days
We're wondering if it's a good idea to fly in Osaka and out from Tokyo? Is 12 days insufficient to cover all of these places?

We are travelling to Osaka, probably now for only one night (planning on having 3 nts in Osaka now). We want to have a look around Osaka Castle, maybe do a cruise on the river and see the big bright lights in the main area of Osaka at night. Would staying in accommodation opposite Tennoji Station be convenient? We will have a JR pass to use, so we could use this to get around the city (JR Osaka loop line).
Or do you think we would be better off staying near Shinsaibashi Stn?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Also is the best light and Neon display in Dotonbori.....or do you recommend we go to Kita as well?
Thanks, appreciate any and all your feedback.
Ill be arriving in Osaka at about 9pm...are the restos in Dotonburi street that make takoyaki and onomiyaki still open late in the evenings?
I will be in Osaka during Mount Fuji's climbing season (July 1-Aug.31) and was wondering:
1). How much travel time (and what mode: bus, train?) do I need to allocate to get from Osaka to Mount Fuji?
2). How expensive will it be to get from one place to the other?
Hello just wondering if there is any companies that do hotel transfer to and from the kansai airport. I will be staying at Shin-Osaka which is a hassle carrying luggage and a 3 year old child.
Thanx in advance
I will be studying in Osaka for a semester at Kansai University. During this time I will be studying martial arts and the most convenient Dojo that I can find in the area for my art is at the Abeno Sports Center in Abeno-ku.
I'm trying to find the best way to get from Kandai-mae station to the Abeno station and what a round trip fair would cost me and what would be the best way for getting tickets for that trip.
as far as i can tell I would have to take the Hankyu Senri line and then transfer over to the Tanimachi line and then ride that all the way down to Abeno. any tips or suggestions?
any gd Onsen to recommede
Has anyone lived in Kishiwada? Is the city safe especially the area around the Tokushukai hospital? In which area of the city would you recommend to rent an appartement?
I am doing a Tokyo/ Kyoto/ Osaka route from 2 - 12 Jan and would like to do a day trip at Osaka. The maximum is probably 1 night stay in Osaka, if there are loads to cover.
Given my tight schedule, what can I cover in 1 day at Osaka? I am not too keen on the Osaka Castle as I would be going to Himeiji Castle. I will cover Shisabashi and aquarium (is this a must-see?). What else should I cover?
Alternatively, if 1 day is way too little, then we would stay for a night in Osaka. Are there cheap ryokans in Osaka that are near to the JR station?
Pls share all your tips, recommendations etc.
Thanks lots :)
I'm planning to travel to Osaka early September 2007 for 3 days and work my way down to Fukuoka. I'll be arriving via Kansai International airport and staying around Shin Osaka station. In the 3 days I want to see Kyoto and sight seeing around Osaka. I will be in Fukuoka for further 4 days.I was wandering whether:
1. A JR rail pass is worth it. I want to travel by Shinkansen to Fukuoka. i don't mind travelling using the Hikari train. But if the rail pass not worth it, I'll travel Nozoki style.
2. If a rail pass is worth it, shall I get the Kansai rail pass and get a separate ticket to Hakata or Sanyo area rail pass that will get me to Hakata directly.
3. Shall I get the 4 days rail pass from Osaka to Hakata and then go solo the rest of the days.
I would appreciate any suggestions you all may have. Thank you for your comments
May I know if the Osaka One-Day Pass can be used on the Nanko Port Town Line?
Thanks in advance!

Can someone advise how can I get to Kadoma-shi from Kansai beside taking the bus no. 10 to moriguchi station as the last bus leave at 10pm while I will only reach the aiport at 9pm..a bit risky. I'm afraid I may miss the bus due to delay thus i need a contingency planning to get to kadoma-shi.
I'm traveling through Osaka on my way to Bali for a surf trip. I’m only there for about 20 hours. I would like to wake up at 6:00 or 7:00am and check out a nearby beach preferably where I could surf for an hour or two. I do need to catch my flight out at 2:25pm that day.
Any suggestion on which beach to go to and how. Not sure what hotel yet, but I'm sure it will be a cheap one near the airport. I’ll be there June 17 & 18.
Oh, and maybe a cool little singles bar too.

Any recommendations in terms of staying in Osaka (Where/length of stay) os should we just go to Kyoto to stay a few days? From Osaka to (Kyoto) Tokyo would the preferable mode of transportation be by train? Hope the questions aren't too broad. First time to Japan so we really don't have a clue. Thanks!!!!
