excursions from Muscat

Hi there, i will be in Oman for 4 nights , have flights and accommodation sorted, but I do not seem to find a tour company that offers reasonably priced daily excursions from Muscat. I travel alone and would like to join a group excursions rather than paying for a guide for myself only (too expensive and boring)
Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

Are you looking for a tour of historic areas, cultural areas or outdoor/adventure activities?

There are some companies in Muscat which offer scuba diving options, which are pretty nice along the coast of Oman.

Otherwise, you may consider to rent a car and do it yourself if you're looking at historical points. Driving is straight forward enough and rental car / petrol are cheap in Oman.

I drove around and visited places like Al Hamra & Misfat Al Abriyyin (this would be a long drive from Muscat!), Misfat, Nizwa, then going north from Mustcat off of the coastal road, I went inland to Nakhal and Ar Rustaq. I have some descriptions and photos of these places in my pages if you're curious.

Contact Mark Tours. They organise various day tours from Muscat. A very reliable company!

Thank you
I did contact them but like all others they only offer private excursions which work out too expensive for one person
I can't believe I cannot find a tour I can join in
Thank you so much anyway

Try the Thorn Tree forum of Lonely Planet. Sometimes people are looking for exactly the same.

Good luck!

Try Khalfan Al Jabri - he is a young, independent Omani guide, but is likely to be much cheaper than the companies. He is excellent - I have known him for several years and he is a good friend of mine now. He is completely reliable and trustworthy - he knows everyone and everywhere! Email and you'll get some information from him.

Have a great time on Oman!
