Last month, I-35 was either flooded or had a rock slide or both, north of Ardmore, thanks to all the rains. My wife and her friends are headed up to Oklahoma City by car from the Dallas area, and I have been charged with trying to figure out if they should go up the most direct route which is I-35 (passing through Ardmore), or use the longer eastern route of up US-75 through Durant, then taking US and state highways up to Shawnee to take I-40 into Oklahoma City from the east...
Anyone have recent info? I have looked at mapping software, which just says "construction" (there's always construction on the interstates), and the notices at the Oklahoma DOT are a month old...
I have friends living in Oklahoma City and they said all is clear.
Also, link shows all is clear too:
Thanks...but on that website, zoom in on a location just north of Ardmore around Turner Falls...you'll see about three miles of orange, where there is evidently construction or something...I am guessing that all traffic is being diverted to either the northbound or southbound lanes (so one lane each)...causing a big slowdown...
According to multiple news sites, full closure was limited and already passed. But general congestion may be expected since lanes were reduced and speed lowered to 50mph. Most recent I saw posted was dated two days ago.
You make the call if rush hour or holiday traffic is expected.
Thanks...I looked for but never found such recent news sites...I'll pass the word along!
