I have a job in Nigeria

I have a job in Nigeria. I was just wondering, as a young, white female, what precautions I need to take? My safety is my number 1 priority as well as exploring and discovering a beautiful country. I will be working in both Abuja and secondly Lagos.

How much experience do you have in developing countries, in particular Africa?

What is your travel experience to this point? Have you worked abroad before?

Lastly, has your new employer required any money up-front from you?

Hmm, yeah, Martian24 above has some good points. They may not seem like what you were looking for, but there are good reasons for his questions. Take a look at some of these links and you will understand. Whatever you find on the net or when you Google, add the word scam, and see what comes up.

Of course there is that chance that you actually have a legit job offer. The first thing then is to assess the job as in "do I need insurance coverage for this job?" Then contact either Chubb Insurance or AIG insurance and ask about "KRI" insurance. (look it up...). Then go to your employer and see what they think about it. If any of this is of any help, come back with more details.
