New Zealand

Rent a campervan

I will travel to new Zealand from 10/4/2017 to 16/4/2017. I am searching the information about the campervan. There are different type of van that suit me and my wife. Any recommendation for me and my wife?

We are considering two models: 2 Berth - Venturer and Esprit 2 Berth Deluxe.
Which one is suitable for us?

Thank for your advice! I am looking forward to hearing your reply......

They look very similar to me, so I do not understand why you need another opinion. I would go for the cheaper one, but you would need to request quotes from the two companies (Britz and NZ Motorhome Rentals) to establish which one is the cheaper.

Whichever one you choose, enjoy your week in NZ. I hope you have a happy time!

Same as Roger, I can't see the difference between those two van. For comfort they are both similar

When you rent a campervan in New Zealand, you can take out insurance for certain damage to the camper. However, keep in mind that even though you have the most comprehensive insurance package you do not always have everything insured. Often the windows and tires excluded, and you also often a deductible.

Enjoy your trip in NZ

There is a budget campervan company called Juicy I think it is you could Google, still a bit more expensive than I'd pay but cheaper than the others but they get booked out quite a way in advance

Hi Roger, Thx for your advice. But i concern how to recharge my mobile phone. In the spec of 2 Berth - Venturer car, there is no USB connection. Is that mean I cannot charge my mobile phone in the car? I need my mobile phone everytime because i can use the gps for google map that make sure i can find my way everytime.

Hi [VT member 10daf0], nice to meet you! Thank for your advice. What kind of insurance do i need to buy for covering my whole trip?

I found the basis one which is free of charge. Besides, i found the insurance which need to pay for every day. There is a lot of package when i rent the car.

I am not sure which one is most suitable for me. Any advice for me ?

Thx Shavy......

Hi what nationality are you?
Are you in China as you seen to not be able to use google?
If you rented just a normal car I'd recommend an insurance policy that covers both the excess, the amount they don't cover or that insurance companies charge if something happens and you need to make a claim, and the other things insurance often don't cover if there's damage such as the Windows, tyres or undercarriage. .
[original link] but don't think they cover for camper vans.

Also if there is no usb connection for your charging your phone, being able to charge your phone is usually Standard by getting a phone charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter

Hi Lieslinch,

You can buy extra insurance when you pick up the camper at rental company, they will ask you about it......is not cheap but you're confident driving around without any worries of damage of your car or camper. How longer your trip how more you pay, yes the daily package is more expensive and is the good one ;)

Insurance you see online is just basic without covering everything.

For personal travel insurance is something you have to arrange in your home country

Welcome to VT Mullinahone, nice to have you aboard !
I think we already established the "Jucy" spelling issue. But thanks for the contribution :-)

I have never understood the attraction of camper vans, also consider hiring a car and packing a tent, then treating yourself occasionally to nice hotels or guest houses.
