The easiest and quickest way to Milford Sound would be to fly. You can look up the info you need at the airport. Milford Sound Airport (IATA: MFN, ICAO: NZMF) is a small but very busy (in terms of flight movements) airport in Milford Sound, in New Zealands Fiordland region of the South Island. It is mainly used by tourist / flightseeing operators. In case you are anxious to get there here are a few of my pictures of the area, Enjoy

The only way to do it I to fly as mentioned above. Not feasible at all otherwise.

Yes, it's the ONLY way you'd do it ... flying. Hi [VT member 4bce], do you realise how far Auckland is from Milford Sound, and how remote it is?

I would fly to Queenstown, book the day trip on Real Journeys, which is a bus ride from Queenstown to Milford, a boat trip on the Sound to the Tasman Sea, and return trip by bus to Queenstown. [original link]. My wife and I did the Real Journeys trip from Te Anau two years ago - I can recommend the trip. The coaches have windows in the ceilings so you can see the mountains better!

That way you will get to see more of the area, rather than just flying in and out of Milford Sound.

Good luck with the planning.
