Hi there --
My wife and I will be traveling through Namibia very soon and will be living out of a Land Rover for 6 wks. I expect that there will be times when I'd love to either spend time with local indigenous people or take the occasional photograph, but still have something to offer in exchange for their time (if there is a request).
I always attempt to travel in a culturally-sensitive way, so I'd like to ask what sort of things are appropriate?
I have heard recommendations of everything from blankets to colored pens. As I will be travelling with limited space, I'd like to carry items that aren't too large.
Similarly, I was interested in making an in-person donation to a local orphanage, if that is possible. What items are generally in high demand?
Many thanks for any ideas!
