Whilst you are waiting for VT-ers to reply with specific suggestions do have a look at the Muscat pages and tips here:

Everything is written by VT locals and visitors and you'll find lots of ideas about what to do and see.

Visit the Fort

Take a scroll along the Corniche (beautiful at night, all lit up)

Take a trip into the desert- visit Nizwa. Can be done as a day trip

Visit the Souk (Bazaar) for great bargains

I strongly recommend that if you have time, take a flight up to Khasab the Musandam Peninsula- one of the most unusual and striking parts of Oman. Like an Arabian Norway with fjords and dramatic scenery, blue blue sea.

Are there pubs in Muscat ??

I very much doubt it. 'Pubs' are largely a UK phenomenon rather than widespread throughout the world. Perhaps you mean 'bars'?

Licensed hotels, bars and restaurants in Oman can sell alcohol. Non-Muslim residents can obtain permits which allow them to purchase alcohol to drink at home.
