Monterey is beautiful in late August/early September. The weather is very nice and there is whale watching trips out of Monterey all year long. Right now, in summer the humpback whales do their thing, as well as the blue whale, The ever popular gray whales only appear in winter and spring. There are many species of marine life, all of which are wild, or not at Sea World. BTW, a stop at the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a must to see if you are into marine life. I believe it to be one of the top public aquariums in the world. See to check out the current weather and put you on the Aquarium site. Also, when their stop by the Pacific Grove beach area for great views of the ocean and marine life. Go to my pages on Pacific Grove and Carmel for some insight on the area. Have fun, its a wonderful area.
