Where to stop along I-10?

We will be in New Orleans during Easter. I do collect states and countries and would like to visit Mississippi and Alabama on a day trip. Our plan is to rent a car and go to Mobile, AL, but where should we stop in Mississippi along I-10? I am the owner of a travel blog and want something unique and typical like nice architecture, a restaurant serving a typical dish etc. which I can present in pictures.

Thanks [VT member abf7b] Lena

My favourite place is Biloxi. Yes, there are a lot of casinos there, but there is also much history and beautiful antebellum structures and the wonderful lighthouse. Lots of seafood restaurants. Actually, the casinos offer buffets, which usually include local seafood and usually at a reasonable price. I also love Biloxi beaches. Take a drive along the coast.

I agree about Biloxi. But I would not take I-10. You can drive BACK on I-10. On the way to Mobile take US 90 which goes through all the various towns and you might find interesting places to stop that aren't so much in the tourist area or that you hadn't thought about. You wouldn't have to decide to get off I-10 to get there. In Mississippi it goes along the coast. and in Alabama 90 goes by Theodore (Bellingrath Gardens). We also dropped down to Dauphin Island, but that's also in Alabama

Yes, Biloxi. Just follow US 90 along the shore and it'll take you through the most interesting part of town, with the old stately homes. There are a few museums as well.
