Hi there,

Cabs are always fastest. E.g. a minivan airport-Mirissa from the cab desks would cost around Rs 12,000 (Rs 11,000+ Rs 1,000 toll for Expressway) and cost around 3 hours. Bus/train would easily take double time, 6 hours, due to transfers and waits but cost less than Rs 500 per person.

All the best,

there is a new large coach bus that runs every few minutes between GALL E and Colombo, that is very fast, so if you are intending to see Galle at all, you could go that way for at least one direction.........let me know if interested, and I can get more particulars, but right now I need to run.
you can then take the train between Galle and Mirissa; this is what I did this past summer.

Well that large bus does stop at Kottawa (useful inbound only), Maharagama and Kaduwela - the latter a 2nd line. And the fact that it e.g. reaches Maharagama in 90 minutes from Galle is totally nullified by the fact that Maharagama to Fort is 75-90 minutes for that short distance due to crazy traffic. So the expressway bus does not really offer speed advantages compared to the normal AC Express buses Fort-Galle (which take 3 hours). But it's more comfy, has more luggage space (but the bottleneck buses Fort-Maharagama have no space at all), but more expensive too.

Tnx,

Now is also possibly to fly to south international airport Mattala/Hambantota.
With srilanka airways costs about 2500 roepies. There is also Mihin lanka. Flydubai flies also to south with a stop in colombo.
the road is a dangerous ,you have to find a safe driver. The train is a safe transport.

Yes but Mattala to Mirissa is about 3 hours by road, hence the speed gains compared to arriving at CMB airport are zero. Mattala is great for people wanting to go to e.g. Tangalle, Udu Walawe, Ella or Tissa-Yala.

Tnx,
