Mirissa South

WHALE WATCHING

is it safe to go with kids for the whale watching tour by boat.We are planning to travel in December 2013

Well I ve not heard of any danger, but better be cautious with kids... precaution is always better than cure...

Yes it's safe, but demand a boat with good life vests and safe material (e.g. a railing without corroded parts which can break off). And be frank that YOU feel free to claim back the money and leave the boat at the start when these things are not as promised, e.g. no child size life vests or an almost broken railing.

It's perfectly safe. Agree with Erikdr, look for railing without corroded parts...
I've been doing whale watching 2 times in Mirissa and both boats were in very decent condition. Kids were provided with child-sized vests.

I'm sure you'll greatly enjoy the experience:-)
