Miami Beach

Taking a cruise out of Miami. Need some pointers. Thanks!

We want to book a cruise from the Port of Miami. We will have 2-3 days afterwards and want to see the beach, and take a bus and everglade tour. Where would be the best area to be close to the port but also close to the beach and tours? And approx. how much if cabs are needed? thanks.

I would stay right on Miami Beach in your case.
If you stay in the art deco area on South Beach, then you are in a really cool part of the city that is only a 20 minute cab ride from where the cruise ships dock and the tour companies will pick you up at your hotel there.

The cruises we have done from Ft Lauderdale or Miami always offer post-cruise shore excursions to the Everglades. You could book this through the ship while onboard. Only downside would be they drop you at the airport so you would have to get from there to whatever hotel you are staying.

But most hotels have shuttles so you could just jump on a shuttle to a hotel on the beach.
