My husband and I plan to stay in Mexico City in April (first visit to Mexico) and would like advice on the most interesting and safest part of the city to stay - we were thinking maybe stay in the Central Historical district? - any info 'for' or 'against' - we would be grateful.
Also what sort of weather can we expect?
I missed my flight to London on Thursday 11pm at Mexico City airport. OK, Aeromexico reassured me I will be put on the next flight on Friday.
So I went Friday morning. They said I have a seat, and the ticket price has gone up, so I have to pay 700 us dollars extra. I was under their command as I was the one who made the error. So I paid and took the flight. One quarter of the plane was empty.
How would you justify this? Was I ripped off? Would you have done it differently?

What is the best tip for getting tickets to these wonderful places? We don't want to buy a tour and have a few random destinations thrown in, also would like to beat the queues and buy tickets before we get there at the end of October this year. Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Muchas gracias, Tricia
Im will be in Mexico city this July. I would like to ask if anyone know if there's a cooking lesson that I can attend while Im in Mexico City? THis has to be in English as I am not Spanish Speaker. I would prefer, foods that I can sell in small stall in my home country.
Thank you in advance for your reply
I thought you only need a passport to enter Mexico, but now I am hearing you need something called a tourist card. I will only be transiting through Mexico City and will most likely remain at the airport. I was told that if you're only changing planes, you do not need this card. However, we will be taking the monorail from one terminal to the other, and someone said since anyone off the street can use the monorail, that using it to get in between terminals basically means that you are entering Mexican soil. So do we need a tourist card or not? If so, where can we get one? I read it costs like $20.
They also said you're not allowed to lose it, because you have to present it on the way back, and if you don't have it, you will be fined. But again, is all this necessary if we are only changing planes and not actually planning to set foot on Mexican soil?
I found a link with more detailed information, but it's all in Spanish.

A 21 year old young lady I know has a 17 hour stop-over at Mexico City between flights. She wants to know whether it would be safe for her to visit the city for a few hours on her own. She is worried because she has been told of risks of kidnapping etc. Any hints as how to make her visit into the city as safe as possible? Thanks in advance.
Firstly; I prefer to add my flight search reference, for more clarity.

We have a week in Mexico City, starting 8th March 16. We would like to visit the butterfly reserve.... what is the best way to get there please? Would prefer it if we could go by bus... Maybe stay overnight?. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks, Sue
I was wondering if someone could suggest a place/neighborhood/street to stay that is in close proximity to running trails. I've heard Bosque de Chapultepec is a great place to run but I'm a bit confused with how assessible it is. I've read there are certain times the park is open and I'm not sure if it's gated and need to enter at certain locations. It's also difficult to get a sense of how far certain neighborhoods are from this park. Ideally I would love to get up in the morning and go for a jog but not have to worry about running too far on busy streets before getting to a nice trail. Any information on Bosque de Chapultepec or other trails in the city would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I was just wanting to get some names of big fast-fashion (Zara, Forever 21, H&M-like) retailers that are Mexican owned.

Hi all, we recently found out my there is a high likelihood we will be moving to Mexico city for a US Gov job at the Embassy. Though we are extremely excited for the adventure we are also a family of 6 with 4 school age children and I want to gather as much information as possible. We would be living there for 2-5 years. I have been told that many US Embassy employees live in Polanco but that it is a very "plastic" place. Condessa I hear is very nice as well. I want to totally be a part of the city and culture, my husband is Mexican and I am Peruvian/Spanish so it will not be a culture shock to us but I want to make it as easy a transition as possible for our children. I also have been told the children of US embassy employees go to private schools that are very demanding. We have been given a housing allowance up to $3500/usd a month, what type of home will that afford us? And how about vacation spots close by? We like to vacation a lot and would want to take advantage of being so close to Cancun and Acapulco. Any insight as to what to expect for a US family living in Mexico City (specifically US Gov employee) would be so helpful! Thanks in advance!

Any suggestions about taking a tour as opposed to taking the public bus?
I heard that the tour is not expensive but I don't want to waste time at factories.

I understand that the dancing (danzón) in the Plaza de la Ciudadela starts around noon on Saturdays.
Any idea what time it ends?
I will take the metrobus 4 from Benito Juarez to downtown. My question is the bus direction. From the airport the bus goes to San Lazaro, then where does it go: north (Archivo General De la Nacion) or south (Moctezuma/Hospital Balbuena/Eduardo Molina)? I want to get off at Isabela La Catolica which is on the South route. Do I have to take a specific bus i.e. North or South from the airport? Or do I have to transfer in San Lazaro? The map is not clear. It says servicio al aeropuerto por ruta norte..To the airport is the North route. What about From the airport? Also the map indicates that both north and south routes are bidirecctional until it gets to San Lazaro and to the airport. It not clear where the bus will go coming from the airport after it reaches San Lazaro.
Another related question. The fare is Mex. 30, payment is by Metrobus (red) card or TDF (yellow) card only. There is a machine where you can get the cards. What is the difference between the two cards? Can I use the metrobus card in the metro/subway? How about the TDF card?
Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks!
