I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. Is it safe to take my mobile with me to Mexico? I know that the word "safe" will have everyone jumping. I do actually have two phones- an old Galaxy S3 which is slow and annoying and a new LG which is fast. I am considering travelling with the old one because if it's stolen it's less of a loss, however if I need to use my phone a lot obviously the new one is way more convenient. What are the chances of my new LG getting stolen, or worse, me being held up at gunpoint somewhere...(We are travelling around for 6 weeks, from Yucatan down through Chiapas and up to Mex City)
Thanks in advance.
Hi, we are travelling to Mexico on 10Dec2016 with British Airways and have read conflicting reviews on whether or not we will need to pay a local departure tax of around 900 pesos. Some reviews have said it will be included on our ticket whereas others have said we have to pay it when leaving Mexico. Does anyone know the truth about this? Even the official Cancun website doesn't mention it! If we do have to pay it locally do they definitely accept sterling?
We are two Brits in our late 50s(boy and girl) looking to spend a week next September somewhere in Mexico conducive to a great blend of beach, town, food and heritage - so not fussy at all. We will have a car.
All suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated!
I have about 7-8 days in Mexico.
My interests are photography and historical sites.
I am thinking about spending
4 days in Mexico city with side trips to Puebla and Teotihuacan ruins
3-4 days in guanajuato - side trips to Morelia and San Miguel
are the side trips doable? or are they too far to enjoy for a day trip?
Should I just stay in Mexico city and do day trips from there the whole time?
any suggestions would be appreciated.
Looking for any member that lives there NOW. Need help to verify an existing Co. called SUBASMEX. Does it exist....want to purchase some vehicles from them....but redlights....cant just deposit $...blindly....Help please from someone there..

Hi, are you from UK and live in Mexico for a long time? I am going to be an expat too. What do you miss most? I mean things like tea, cornflakes, cheese ...... Any advice on living in Los Cabos is welcome!
Is there a consulate of Sri Lanka in Mexico? If yes, where is it located?
Hi there. What is that famous staircase called? How to get from Oaxaca to JdZ; minivan? How much? How to get to the staircase, once in JdZ? I would be doing this in Jan, Feb, of course. Thanks a lot, folks!
I will be based in Mexico for the next 10 months.
Can you suggest some countries/cities in South America that I should visit?
Have you been here?
I'd like to know what life is like for a Brit to stay long term.
Can a foreigner live comfortably without Spanish?
Any tips on safety?
So...I was supposed to go to Chiapas and Oaxaca this august but the latest news made me realize this isnt the best time, therefore I'm thinking about Baja California.
I'll be in Mex from August the 1st till the 19th, I'll be stayin the first few days in Mex DF, then I have from the 3rd or 4th till the 18th for Baja California. I don't really have a plan, just a general idea to start in Tijuana and go down to La Paz (I've been told to avoid Cabos San Lucas). Maybe rent a car and drive down...how would you suggest we move around? rent a car or by buses?
How about nice spots to stop, puerto Peñasco, ensenada, rosalito, la paz?
Thanks for any advice!
I am travelling by bus in Mexico, do I need ID to buy a ticket or board the bus? Also, is it possible to change dollars for pesos in a casa de cambio in Mexico City without ID?
We fly from Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta. Although Southwest will allow pet transport in cabin on domestic flights, they will not on international flights. Does anyone know which airlines will allow us to transport a cat in a carrier in the cabin?? Thanks!
Would like to take a few weeks and stay in (perhaps) 2 places in Mexico that are fun and charming to walk around in, to sketch or paint, to enjoy the local vibe, maybe take a painting, cooking, language or dance class while there. I do speak Spanish, but not real well so kicking it up a notch would be nice. I was thinking San Miguel del Allende, maybe Oaxaca - other ideas, anyone?
Hello! I am looking to relax, unwind, dance and enjoy a romantic + fun new years eve with my husband in Mexico. I wanted to know if you have any recommendations/places to avoid this last week of dec. Also, we've heard random bits about safety in Mexico. Is this a concern in Cancun/Tulum?
We arrive in Cancun on Feb. 5 and I just discovered that it's Constitution Day. But the information at timeanddate.com and Wikipedia says that it is observed on the first Monday in February regardless of which day is the actual holiday. Does that mean businesses are open as usual on Friday Feb. 5, 2016? I was planning to get a SIM card at Movistar right after we got off the plane. Thanks!
Im in mexico and my allergies are bothering me. I normally take Zyrtec or Allegra. The drug they have here is called Avapena. I cant find any references to a similar drug in the US. Is this a safe alternative?
We are planning a 2 week road trip to see Mayan Archaeological sites Central and Southern Mexico. Our basic plan is to fly into Oxaca and fly out of Cancun. I did some preliminary research based on this google map:
I was looking on Amazon to buy a good guide book but most of the usual suspects (lonely planet, rogue etc) have pretty mediocre reviews. Most of the guide books seem to cater to "beach/resort" crowd. Do you guys recommend any specific guide book(s) which provide details about Mayan sites?
I already placed an order for An Archaeological Guide to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula by Joyce Kelly but I am also looking to buy something more recent for general road tripping and accommodation planning.
What do you know about the Yucatan, other than Cancun. Thanks
I'm off to Riveria Maya in Dec/Jan and would love to find out what to expect weather wise! I have seen so many varied reports some say it's warm others cold!!
Any tips on things to do and see would also be great!
Hi, I resident in Dubai and Need a tourist invitation letter from mexico to apply for a tourist visa to take my vacation to mexico

We are traveling by car from northern New Mexico to Kino Bay taking I25 south through Lordsburg, NM. The 2 closest ports of entry to Lordsburg are Douglas or Naco, AZ. Does anyone know about these ports of entry? We would prefer not to go all the way to Nogales to enter as it adds miles to our trip. Thank you.
Hi, am planning to go to Mexico for desperately needed extensive dental work. Particularly implants , as I will be without teeth full upper arch. Failed bridge and dentists recommendations here, to which I agree but can't afford. Need recommendations on any safe places to visit in Mexico to accommodate this. Am weary listening to the news and the bad things that I am hearing. Nervous but weary and desperate to get this done asap. Looking to travel in the next 2 months or sooner. Would appreciate any recommendations on someone who actually went to a particular place or knows someone who has and your take on the safety issues visiting this country at this time. Thanks so much for any help in advance, sincerely appreciate.
My partner is wanting to drive to Mexico from North Carolina. I will be flying in from Australia to Texas where he will pick me up. What do I need to be able to drive into Mexico with him?
We will be taking an 8 day cruise on Princess as a family (31 people). We will be stopping in Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. I was wondering if there are options we should really stay away from or if there are some that are better than others. I do have one granddaughter who is 8 who would love to see a shark. She is so into sharks that she wants to be a marine biologist, despite the fact she has never even ever seen the ocean. I have never been on a cruise, nor have I ever been anywhere I could not see the shore, nor have I ever been out on the open ocean. So suggestions as to what to look for and not look for on a ship would be welcome.
where in mexico is the best combination of low humidity (under70% ?) and warm temps ( highs 75 F and above, lows maybe 50 in the winter? and in the rainy season(june- october generally?)? we're looking at places to move from BC when we retire, thinking of retirement in about 3-4 years and not sure if we should buy or rent :)
we've been to Playa del Carmen and puerto Vallarta but only in the winter and I know a lot of places have really humid rainy summer months ... so I guess you could rephrase this as "where in mexico is the best year round conditions near the ocean(either one, gulf or carribean) " I know its fairly subjective but in our case summer being hot and dry is better than hot and 90% humidity
We prefer a real short distance from the beach or on the beach even better, is there such a place?
Would love to be around expats. We are from Canada. I am curently in the Canadian Armed Forces for the last 29 1/2 years now serving in Bosnia, Kosovo, The Gulf War, Haiti and Afganistan. My wife is seeking a new home group for NA where we will relocate as well.
Any help would be great. We are more beach people!
Does anyone personally know of a good gps tracking device that will work well in Mexico?
Hi, Do you live in or have travelled to Los Cabos, Mexico?
If yes, can you tell me or direct me to the right websites to find out about life in this city?
Does anyone know when this airport will actually be opening? I'm wanting to book my holiday but just know that the airport will open just when I have made alternative, lengthier travel arrangements!
