I'm trying to decide between these two for a weekend getaway in June. They seem pretty similar, and are more or less the same distance from my house. We're interested in biking around pretty places and wildlife areas, sitting around relaxing with a picnic and/or a beer, eating crabs and other locally/culturally appropriate foods, etc. Is one place materially different from the other for any reason? (Traffic, cost, availability of restaurants, etc.) Thanks!
We are planning to go camping on Assateague Island during the second week of April. So I have a few dumb camping questions :-)
I have never camped in the US and am used to just kind of finding a spot to put the tent and hang out. Now from looking at the website it looks like it is a bit more regulated. So basically, where do I physically go to pay for the campsite? Are there assigned campsites? Are fires allowed and is April going to be way too cold? Any must haves besides a tent and sleepingbags? And what are the chances of actually seeing the ponies?
I know that's a lot of questions and I am sure there is so much more I should be asking, but I suppose it is a start.
If you have been there, please share your experiences with me.
Thanks a lot!
I would like to attend a convention in National Harbor in the spring. Are there any reasonably-priced hotels there? I've found approx. 5 on the internet but all seem to be quite high priced. My conference is taking place at the Gaylord National hotel.
I'm trying to find the name of the crab place in Cecil Co. Md that has the all you can eat crabs for15.50 beer included.I was told the name but I forgot it duh.
I am in the process of trying to figure out to get from Washington, DC to NYC only by public transportation. I know about the bus shuttles but I would like an alternative way of traveling between the 2 places using the long way. the only area that i am having problems with is find a way between northern MD and wilmington DE.
If anyone has an idea on how the get between these 2 locations, i would really appreciate it. thanks for all help in advance.
P.s. i do not know how to drive.
Last Sunday while traveling the Baltimore Beltway (I-695), the electronic billboards posted a "Silver Warning" followed by a Maryland license plate number and vehicle description. My question is, "What is a Silver Warning"?
What will the general weather be like around Calvert Cliffs and other beaches?? Hot?? Bringing granddaughter to hunt for fossils. What should we bring to wear?
For a package of wireless connection, providers ask for a social security number. What other options does a visitor have for a connection? Stay in the area will may be extended to a few months...
Hi, I shall be staying in Clarksburg MD during Oct and Nov and wondered if
anyone knew where there is a shop or class for scrapbooking and or card making.
I have never sat with a group of people doing this, so I'd love to take part in a class. I am self-taught from programs from the computer. These subjects aren't too popular in Israel. I like decoupage, heat embossing and teabag folding. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Hey, i plan on attending college at College of Southern Maryland and moving out of Georgia where i currently am to either La Plata, MD or Waldorf, MD. I would just like the compare and contrast perspective of them both and what you think of either of them.
Pleasaaaase help ha.
So I've decided to go on a family trip for the weekend to Chesapeake Bay, we're going to stay at the Hyatt Resort, which I'm excited about. Unfortunately my dad in not the relax and enjoy the resort kind of dad, so I'm limited in my entertaining. He doesn't like museums o/w I would take him htere. Is tehre annnnnnnything else to do in the area. I saw some hiking in the refuge (not sure if that was good)? I know there are outlets about 40 mins away (on our way to cambridge, so we'll probably do that on our way out), anything else, even if it's enjoying and shopping around an old town, and eating somewhere nice??
Thanks in advance
This is perhaps the most embarassing question I've ever asked in Forum, because I grew up in Maryland.
Thinking of taking a 2 week trip to MD this summer with my friend from China. Would spend first and last few days of trip visiting family and visiting the local area area (Baltimore, and possibly Ocean City and/or Washington DC). But would like to go for a drive for 3 to 7 days to see something beautiful, and that's where I'd like your suggestions.
Historical or other sigificant sites are OK, but if it takes a lot of explaining or is too US-centric, it won't be as interesting to us, unless it can be understood by just seeing and observing (without having to go thru a crash course on US history, explained/translated by crewrower in broken Mandarin).
I'd like to avoid extended driving on the the I-95 northbound corridor or any other roads where traffic or road repairwork is heavy.
If you will suggest I drive west, routing through Southeast Ohio on route to the destination would be good, as I can visit family there too.
We want to avoid sun-intensive activities, so no beaches or anything else where sunburn is a possibility.
OK, that's it. Have fun telling me where to go... I appreciate it.
How do I get to the Cedar point lighthouse.
Also, where is the Snow White Tree located and how do I get there?
We plan to stay at an Ocean Front condo & greatly appreciate any feedback on the following resorts / conditions of amenities / services / management: Plaza, Sandpiper Dunes, Sea Watch, English Towers, Irene. Thanks in advance!
I travel many times a month between Washington and Philadelphia Airport on I-95
Usually going North in the late morning or early to mid afternoon. Is there any way to find out what the road conditions are or where construction delays are before I get on the road? And if I am on the road already, is there anyone I can contact to check on construction along I-95, so that I could possibly plan my route around that area? I don't know if there is a MD Transportation number that I could call. On my way to a 10:00 doctors appointment near the airport last Friday I crept along in traffic between Exit 85 and the Bridge over the Susquahanna River for well over an hour because they had 2 of the 3 lanes shut down to do some work on the bridge. I never did figure out what was being done and why 2 lanes had to be closed.I only saw 2 or 3 persons .I always allow at least an extra hour to get to where I need to be when driving that direction but I was still a bit late for my apointment. I have Sirius Radio traffic for Baltimore and Philly but they don't cover the area in between on I-95.
I coach a pom squad in Arbutus MD. I am looking for parades to involve my squad in. We are interest especially in VFD carnival parades, but would appreciate any parade info we receive.

I'd like to get away to Baltimore for a few days next week. I was looking around at B&Bs and was wondering if anyone had suggestions/advice? Does anyone know about Wilson's House near Druid Hill Park? (Is that a good area?)
Any lodging advice in general would be greatly appreciated.
I'm traveling solo and have never been to MD before, so if anyone knows some good hangouts, that info would help too!
PS - one other thing...I'll be driving there, but if the public transportation is decent, I wouldn't mind saving some gas while sightseeing. How is public transit in Baltimore?

I'm going to Washington in May for a convention, and to finally meet a guy from Japan that I have been corresponding with for 20 years. I don't want an expensive hotel, but would prefer a nice rural campground within 50 miles of the city. Any suggestions on where to look, or recommend a nice place in the area. I used to live in Lancaster Pa, so I have been through western Maryland many times before, but not camping.
I live in Virginia and have been to places in DC Metro area as well as Baltimore, Annapolis, etc, but I'm planning to take a short trip (maybe into the Appalachians) around Christmas, and was wondering if there are any good areas to visit then. I'm not too interested in festivals or skiing, so is there anything else possible to do then?
