Hi. We will be in Mellieha ( Adenau)10 full days. We are tinking of buying a 7 day bus card. I would like to go to
2) Mdina &Rabat
5) The Three Cities
..Question.. Can I take a public bus and should I take a public bus? Numbers? What stop do I get off ?
I am bad at orientation..thus the questions! OR would I be better off to take the Hop On Off bus that goes to all these places for my own peace of mind?? Do advise! Many thanks!
Malta has excellent public transportation and easy to use around https://www.publictransport.com.mt/en
I see that Malta has passes now, this wasn't yet before. publictransport.com.mt/en/bu...
publictransport.com.mt/en/tr... on this site you can see which bus number you can take from Mellieha to Valetta for example.
For Gozo, is good to take the Hop-on hop off bus, you can go with it from Mgarr Harbour in Gozo. The island has unfrequent bus schedule, you will be at ease taking the tour bus, the hoho bus make a round the island and stop at all sights in Gozo
If you want to take the HOHO Bus here's the website city-sightseeing.com/tours/m...

Have fun in Malta
The 7 day "Tallinja Explore" card for use on Malta's public buses is excellent value at €21. It's valid on Malta and Gozo but doesn't include the ferry. Malta is only small, all 3 Islands will fit in to an area the size of Greater London (UK). Despite it's small size, it can take deceptively longer to get around than you might think. The roads are narrow and very twisty as they wiggle their way across the rugged terrain.
On my last (7 night) visit in February 2016 I used a combination of the local MPT buses and the hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses. It was my 5th visit. The local buses at one time used to audibly announce every stop which I found very irritating after a while. This practice seems to have ceased but illuminated signs still announce each stop. "Next stop... Spinola San Giljan" or "Next stop... Sliema Ferries" or "Next stop... Valetta Terminus" etc.
You can purchase a "Tallinja Explore" card at the MPT desk on arrival at the airport. For convenience while encumbered with luggage I then got a taxi to my hotel but I had my card for a week already in my pocket to explore.
Have a great time in Malta. It's my favourite place in Europe.
you can take a ferry from valletta to three cities for Eur2.80 with return, good service as even locals use it, the same there's a ferry valletta sliema, in a few mins you'll be there!
