Can anyone tell me if I will be able to buy a weekly bus ticket in the Raddison Blu hotel Golden Sands, or if not on the bus at the bus stop outside Raddison hotel ?
Click the link, and you can see where to purchase, second link is to the Malta Public Bus
I visited recently and bought a 7 day Tallinja Explore Card at the MPT (Malta Public Transport) desk at Luga International Airport arrivals. I then took a taxi to my hotel in St Julians but that way I already had my bus ticket in hand for the rest of the week.
Even though I preferred to get a taxi from the airport to my hotel, I didn't like the idea of carting my luggage on a bus as they can get very busy, it was really handy buying my bus ticket at the airport upon arrival. After dropping off my luggage and a quick freshen up in my hotel I had my bus ticket already in my pocket and went straight out exploring for the afternoon and evening so it really did work out perfectly.
The only thing to be aware of is if you are staying for 7 nights, a 7 day ticket will not be valid on your very last day if you buy it immediately on arrival at the airport. That will stretch in to 8 days.. It didn't bother me because I was heading back to the airport with luggage so got a taxi again instead.
Have a great trip to Malta, it's one of my favourite places and I can't wait to go back again.
In case you don't plan to use the bus everyday you could even buy a 12 single journey ticket.
If you plan to come to Malta for a long period of time (in case you are coming to work here or to study) then it's well worth it to apply for a tal-linja card. Apply for it before your arrival as it takes around 3 weeks to be processed.
