Rent a scooter and go sightseeing

I'm gonna visit Malta, Sliema, this year in September, together with my wife.

I guess the second half of the month.

Is it possible to rent a scooter, for a week a so, to go sightseeing round Malta?

Please advise what are the rules, is it possible to book a scooter in advance, and maybe some links for good rent servises.

Info. You have to drive on the left side of the roads. Perhaps you knew it.

Malta has a reputation:

  • Nice and friendly people
  • Until they are driving a car

I would not recommend a scooter in Malta. Its a small country well serviced by busses. At the very least hire a car.

The conclusion of the linked webiste makes sense - small area and too many cars.

Its a lovely country that you will enjoy.

All the best,

I agree: public transport and buses are perfect in Malta and the car-trafic is a disaster !
I would not dare nor recommend to drive there with a scooter, except that you have some training as a scooterdriver in Rome or Napoli !

Just come from Malta about 3 weeks ago.
Malta is frendly and very small.
You can buy week ticket €6.50 goes evereywhere on the island. We used it exstensivly. Only problem will be that Sept will be tourist season in full swing and buses can be overflowing.

If you still want to rent scuter, do it well in advance. Parking in some places is free, like the big parking infront of the main gate of Medina, which is about 30 min from St Julian and same rrom Valetta/Santa Venera. Braches in the north of the island are great and Gozo too.
