Luggage of Backpack

I have travelled through Europe with my backpack. Now I am heading to malaysia and singapore and wondering what is best. I am asking because i am concerned about the boats that I will take to go to the islands such as PENANG, TIOMAN, LANGKAWI etc. What kind of boats are they? Is it more convenient to bring a backpack as opposed to luggage? Bear in mind that my luggage is one of those small carry ons with wheels, nothing HUGE.

I could bring the backpack but sometimes it gets tiring on the back and shoulders. So what you recommend for malaysia? Any help is greatly appreciated.

try to strap your suitcase to your back and see how tired you get ;-) seriously though, unless you're really moving about a bit (i mean like literally walking around a lot with the mini-fridge strapped to your back), the backpack should not be a problem. i've been wandering around now for about 10 years with the same backpack and although it always weighs 12 kilos for just about every trip, i really don't find it too much of a hassle.

You will either be using the either a speedboat/catamaran/ ferry. The following site will be helpful for your trip to Tioman, Langkawi and Penang:
